They lived for over 230,000 years so self mediating looks to be part of their success? In the end though it alone did not save them. At the same time this type of study may discover why they went extinct. I'm sure in the minds of many scientists that may be the prominent thought. Because in the end, solving that may help us live beyond our own future end.


It could be something as simple as a climate flux in which the very plants themselves that Neanderthal needed went extinct. Such a situation may have left them vulnerable to diseases and parasite that could have weakened them to the point of not being able to find food or left females unable to have off spring. Those kinds of stresses do affect reproduction cycles.
