But what is a realistic definition of "the area where they are?" From some old research of mine, which I may update, the home territory for black bears ranges from 1-15 square miles (females) to 8-60 square miles (males). For grizzlies, its 50-300 square miles (females) up to 1,500 square miles (males).* Where would Bigfoot, as a species, slot in to that? Also, what would the regional variations be? Certainly in the PNW, one should expect more compact and stable home ranges. In the northeast US, one of the most "crowded" sighting areas is the corridor around Whitehall, New York.** I don't believe that all of those Bigfoot encounters are the result of Bigfoots that have a home range there. * No citations, I need to update this rudimentary effort. ** This is circa 2018 research.

1968/04/01 - Magazine Article - Patterson's Polygraph Examination
Trogluddite posted a topic in Patterson-Gimlin Film Reference Materials
National Wildlife Magazine published a second article on Bigfoot in it's 1970 October/November issue. While the attached article and clippings do not come straight from the National Wildlife archives, I'm confident that it is the actual article from 1970. Polygraph examinations do not prove that someone is lying or telling the truth; this is why they are inadmissible as evidence. If done incorrectly, they can put innocent people through hell - a faulty polygraph examination in Germany convinced investigators that a soldier and his wife were responsible for the death of their six-year old daughter; only after much time and effort was it revealed that a faulty question had caused ambiguous results. (During polygraphs, each admitted feeling responsible for their daughter's death because neither had checked to make sure that doors were locked before they went to bed.) If done correctly, they can provide leads for investigators. This polygraph examination was likely done correctly and designed to identify indicia of lying. National Wildlife did not want to stake its reputation on a bogus film shot by a con man, so the polygrapher probably did not include softball questions. In essence, National Wildlife magazine and the polygrapher they hired were hostile parties vis-a-vis Roger Patterson. national_wildlife_article_pdf.pdf - Today

Forager Encounters Giant Squatting Figure in the Hamma Hamma River | Washington
BFFbot posted a topic in Bigfoot Society Podcast
In this episode of Bigfoot Society, Jeremiah Byron talks with Angel, a lifelong outdoorswoman from the Pacific Northwest, who shares multiple stunning encounters that changed the way she sees the woods forever. From strange predation events on a Deer Island, Oregon farm to a jaw-dropping sighting of a massive, dark, human-shaped creature crouched in the Hamma Hamma River in Washington, Angel walks us through the moments that made her question everything she thought she knew about the forest. Her story continues deep in the Willamette National Forest near Sahalie Falls, where she and her husband were forced to shelter in their SUV after a series of chilling, escalating Bigfoot whoops echoed across the ridge—sounds identical to the legendary Sierra Nevada recordings. Angel also opens up about the emotional impact of these encounters, the eerie radio interference she experienced afterward, and a surprising family connection: her father’s own Bigfoot sighting decades earlier in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. If you're looking for real Bigfoot encounters, Sasquatch sightings, and firsthand wilderness experiences from the PNW, this episode delivers one of the most compelling accounts yet. 🗣️ Share Your Story Had a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience? Why can't they find fossils? A needle is always a needle. The size of the haystack helps determine the odds of finding the needle in that haystack. vs... I would guess that more than anything determines finding such fossils. There may also be an expiration date where the bones might degrade at some point after Bigfoot or any animals dies. -
So long as Bigfoot's needs are met, they stay in the area they are. If conditions change, they move to a place with more stable conditions which can deliver on their needs.

There's an assumption hiding here .. that they know what they have. My understanding is they are wildly, **wildly** understaffed so far as people trained to properly handle and classify incoming "stuff". There's a backlog of "stuff" on shelves in boxes that will take them decades to get through and by then, an even bigger stack will have accumulated. If you want results, rather than blame the Smithsonian, consider lobbying for additional funding for trained staff. -

I Saw a Little Monkey in the Woods - Bigfoot Eyewitness Episode 513
BFFbot posted a topic in Bigfoot Eyewitness Radio
Joey Garcia grew up in Maryland and while he was growing up, he loved exploring in the woods by where he and his family lived. One day, when he was a little kid, he was hiking through the woods, about a quarter mile from his house, when he saw a baby Sasquatch. The baby was white and it seemed to be as surprised to see Joey as he was to see it. We hope you’ll tune in and listen to Joey talk about what happened that day, and share other experiences with you that, quite likely, were Sasquatch-related. If you've had at least one Sasquatch sighting and would like to be a guest on the show, please go to BigfootEyewitness.com and let me know. I'd love to hear from you. Why are there no bigfoot fossils found in the USA?
georgerm replied to georgerm's topic in General Bigfoot Discussion
Bigfoot is a mysterious animal because it's found on all the continents of the world, yet we don't have any fossilized remains. Someone mentioned that there are exceptions to the rule such as with chimpanzees and fossilized remains have been recently found. Only recent remains of chimpanzees have been found and were in the early phases of fossilization. This makes sense because in a forest environment where chimpanzees live, the acid soils dissolve bones more quickly than in alkaline soils. Bigfoots I have been reported to live in areas where the soils are alkaline and their bones would be preserved. Another fact that is mysterious is chimpanzees live mainly on Africa whereas bigfoots have been reported to live on every continent of the world so the chances of finding fossilized Bigfoot bones are much greater than finding chimpanzee bones. Why do we not have fossilized Bigfoot bones? There are a few possibilities 1. It's just been bad luck. 2. We may have no Bigfoot fossils because Bigfoots bury their dead in very inaccessible places. Is it possible that Bigfoot buries their dead and to ensure their remains are never to be found, they stack boulders over burial mound. 3. It's possible that Bigfoot evolved on another planet and was transplanted to Earth by extraterrestrial species. Why would extraterrestrial species want to transport Bigfoot to planet Earth? 4. Or maybe Bigfoot fossils have been discovered and the Smithsonian Museum is not making this public information. Why would the Smithson Museum want to hide the fact that Bigfoot fossils are in fact in their collections? 5. Bigfoot's are Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels who had children with human wives. This puts them in a special category and there remains are spiritual and not physical. -

Yeah, Bullwinkle can be very obstinate about his right-of-way. I encountered a very large-racked specimen in the Yahk watershed while elk hunting from my mountain bike on an abandoned logging RR. He kept plodding towards me, ignoring my hollering and whistling, until I had no choice but to turn around and ride away. Of course, moose were closed to hunting at the time.

I think some are some aren't. In my area we see indications of both. My hunting / hiking / bigfooting buddy works some weekends on a ranch where there appears to a low level of year around activity. Likewise, where we hike, camp, fish, and where I do my main research, the activity is very very seasonal and can seemingly be followed leading up to presence there and after presence there ends. I would expect that in some areas with different conditions there would be a greater propensity towards year round occupation in some place and greater propensity towards only seasonal occupation .. ie migration. So I think you have to look at the specifics of a given location and answer for that location rather than trying to give a single answer that covers all situations, all locations. There is a hole in that as well, potentially, and that is that it is not just "my" spot that is active at that one time, there's a mountain chain over 1000 miles long and the activity peaks within a week in any given year the whole length of the dang thing so it is possible that rather than migration, what we're seeing is some quirky seasonal change of behavior. Or .. BOTH. Because, again, we do see activity to the north 4-6 weeks earlier and to the south 3-4 weeks later. It may be both migration and seasonal something peaks converging. The data is sparse and we have to be cautious about over-investing in specific interpretations which might not fit a fuller data set.

I believe that they are to certain extent. Some more than others. There are reports of individual sasquatches with distinct features being seen many miles apart. One was a rather well known white sasquatch.
