Incidents That Happened In The Field, You Can't Explain.. But Want To Know More About

If those out there, talked more about it openly (instead of each other)... maybe we could use this bandwidth to compare experiences, and actually figure out a few things that happened in the field. Whether it turns out to be possibly squatch related, or not.. or remains still unknown.. why not discuss it ? Does anyone actually think society or hardened skeptics.. will think less of you, or folks in this so called community will think you are a "wooo" or something, when they are also involved in the same topic, or even possibly experienced the same or similar (and just don't talk about it) ?

Many.. right down to those I know personally... to those I don't know, are hesitant to discuss matters on a BF forum, or outside of closed circles.. but am pretty sure they have experienced things they don't openly talk about.

How do I know ? Well, I've picked up little hints from them, from both reading, and face to face conversations.

For those that have already done this here.. it's just another thread (nothing special) , to maybe elaborate more.

If you are involved in this... to discredit other's experiences, then this is probably not the best thread. Of course, I have no control... being just another member. I will ask .. please, that you don't. Not wishing for it to be a flame war, or a personality ego clash.. but instead, a learning experience for both participants, and readers. Ok, let the cricket chirping begin.

Where I live we have these huge black bee things, about as big as your thumb, that fly low around plants and scare the heck out of most folks. They are harmless tho, some kind of beetle I think. I am relaxed around flying bugs anyway, as a gardener. Just stand still unless they land on you, then shake and bolt, right?

When I was the PNW, I was taking pics off the road in the forest a bit behind some fir (?) trees, and heard weird hummy buzzing, very loud, too loud to be any bug I know of, kind of right around circling me. Maybe three feet away? fairly louder than our big black bee thing. Moving around me like you'd think a flying insect would. I looked all around and could not see anything that could be making that noise around me. It was very strange. Like a really big bee in a tin box. But I could find no source.

In the back, the neighbor has a bottle brush tree, which has red flowers and whippy branches like a weeping willow, sort of. They all arc up slightly and then hang down. I was looking in that direction, and one branch of the tree suddenly bounced upward, like it had suddenly been released. Boing! I could not account for its movement. the heck?

A whole bunch of bones and dead eaten animal remains all in a kill zone. What do you call that? There's a nifty name for it out there. Whatever it is called, it was gross and it looked like the predator sat on a log and ate them like a bucket of chicken while watching the road. Freaky.

I've heard of the ear humming / buzzing, from others.. but never experienced it, myself.

Here's a few of the things that have me puzzled.. and not saying that squatch is directly responsible. I'd just like to know what was, or get some idea on more possibilities.

If any of it sounds familiar, I can elaborate. I've mentioned it elsewhere on this forum, in various other threads.

Watched a dark thin figure move at high speed (from 40 yds away), and not make Any sound (while wearing headphones doing audio surveillance) in 4" of dry leaf liter and debris, at night.

Listened to movements of something that sounded large.. that started and stopped.. and then started up again elsewhere, in another location. Either was more than one individual moving, or I'm at a loss how it got from one location to the other.. silently.

Smelled a dirty wet doggy - like smell (with others), that no one could identify.. and my own research on area knowns, could not identify.

Was paced by something off trail, at night ... that stopped and started it's movement, when I did. It caused me.. to panic (or experience a like feeling), and not be able to continue .. while experiencing heavy legs, out of breath, dizziness, and a sick feeling. As soon as I decided to turn around, and head back to camp, the feelings described... were gone.

Growled at and woo-screamed at, by an unidentified animal (two separate incidents).

Had something approach my audio recorder (sounding possible bipedal) , move around the tree and make a mouth pop sound. Never heard the subject leave the area, in the entire night of recording, after the incident.

Saw unidentified dull red , blinking, moving,(what appeared to be) eye shine, on two separate occasions. One time, in total darkness, with only starlight to illuminate. One other, witnessed this.

Some kind of projectile coming (or possibly thrown) from higher ground, and hitting a wooden privy (twice), with no tree branches overhanging the privy.

Does not include various other distant unknowns recorded, and live heard vocals, wood knocks, and tree taps, or unidentified tracks found. That's about it. Everything else, can be explained.

I have heard childlike laughter { recorded on audio } and once a child like voice singing under it's breathe and then the singing turned into talking with a voice inflection like it was asking questions, I could not understand anything it was saying. It made by blood run cold and my body started to shake. I have heard a buzzing sound in one ear but not in the other, it was directional, I could trun my head and the sound would reduce. I could also feel it going through the other side of my body and it made that side completely numb { weird ! }.

Working with a witness, that found deer carcasses and bones (in various stages of decay). Some partially covered with pine branches, and some scattered around.. including two bambis. When he went to harvest the rack on a buck skeleton.. he was hit on the ankle by a rock, that came from across a creek. He thought it was the work of some sick people or poachers, until he could not find who threw the rock.

I hiked several hours once out of my way to access an area from the top down in a valley where I suspected I could pickup squatchy prints in snow. As I spent a long trip getting to my final descent, as I got halfway down a ridge, a huge tree branch snap or tree pushover or breakoff occurred that was intentional (I put it in reverse up and out and a few miles back on an abruptly shortened attempt to be sneaky--it took me awhile to laugh that one off) and was directly parallel from another ridgeline where I had the same thing happen one foggy morning when making a food drop and investigating a single deer antler I found behind a tree down below that ridge (yes both places were pretty good observational points with multiple ways in and out so something wouldn't be pinned down due to steepness of terrain).

That is weird, Nathan. Something that will also sound like a strange coincidence.. is myself and at least 30 other servicemen, heard what we all described as " childlike laughter " in a remote forested valley, on the other side of the world. It happened 35 years ago, on a training mission in the PI (not politically correct). It was loud and freaky enough... to wake our tired ***** up. I heard another poster mention hearing similar laughter (BFF v1, I think), from a location out in the PNW.

Interesting incident, BP. Can understand the delay, in laughing it off. After the laughing, there is always an enormous amount of thinking.

imonacan very interesting. When I heard it I was confuzed, i was thinking ,, what in the world are kids doing out here with no light ? ,, and when I say kids I mean it sounded like 1 or 2 six year olds laughing at something. VERY FREAKY . The laughter came from far North of camp, interestingly it was seconds after something copyed MY entering / exiting whistle from the hill on the other side of the cedar veine to the South.

I found a huge buck dead in Nov, when I rolled him over to check for trama I disturbed the leaves and found the bleached bones of another deer underneath him. The buck's tracks came down the hill then stoped mid-way and he was at the bottom of the hill with no apparent injury but what I believe was a broken neck, very strange.

  • 2 weeks later...

A couple of unexplained incidents in my past. My wife's cousin and I ventured out in our woods one spring morning looking for signs of bears or turkeys. We have a spring hunting season for both, and both are plentiful. Also the dogs in the area had been going berserk the last few nights, and we suspected a bear passing through after hibernation ended.

If I remember right, we didn't see any sign of either, and we usually do. But shortly after entering the woods, we heard loud crashes and thumps.

Our fist thought was two bucks fighting, but it was spring time, not the typical rutting season of the fall. We could hear brush and branches cracking, and lound thumps that actually vibrated the ground. It sounded close by, but just out of sight in deeper brush. Everytime we would stalk closer, and expected to see what it was, it would sound further yet. It was leading us deeper into the woods.

Finally we came to a small hill, and heard the sounds just on the other side, so we signalled to go around it from each direction thinking one of us at least would solve the mystery. We ended up meeting on the other side without seeing anything, and the sounds stopped. It sounded like two giant wrestlers body slamming each other, no grunts or growls were heard.

Further on we came to a small clearing, and in the middle was a pallet made of branches and bows from trees, roughly the size of a queen size matress. On closer examination, we could see that it had long grass piled on top of the branches. On commenting that it looked like a bed, her cousin said that I don't think bears make these. Also the closest source of long grass was about 200 yards away, so something carried it. At the time, I wrote it off as homeless campers, but did note that no campfire had been made.

Once I had also heard the sound of kids laughing, and wondered what our neighbors little girls were doing playing out in our woods. (they live about 1 mile away, and were like 6 & 7 yrs. old) As I paused and was listening, I looked up and noticed a cat bird in a branch above. Around here they are called cat birds due to their copy cat nature of copying other sounds. I didn't see the bird make the noises, but suspected that it did. I'm not sure what their real name is. Just my $.02 ;}

By “PIâ€, I presume you mean the place that 'Douglas MacArthur returned to'?

Coyotes do this. There are 2 such places on the campus of a local university. Nearby there are also 2 yote dens. I have been escorted at dusk by them back to my car. I also had a friend who used to walk her dog near there until she was escorted to the car that day. She almost lost her dog. When there is more light I will go back there and take some video. The ground is littered with the bones of over 50 deer. It would be creepy if you didn't know the coyotes were there. I used to walk around there in the day and didn't know the dens were there, but then one day I stayed out to dusk and stuff got crazy.

When I was about 12 I was out at night and heard the loudest cat fight noises I have ever heard. Sounded down right vicious. I walked into the woods to look for it and it sounded like it was coming from up in the trees, but I got freaked out and could not go any further. A year or two after that I heard the same noise. This time I was determined to find the source. I crept into the forest and slowly the sound seemed to be coming from up higher and higher. I eventually found the tree it was coming from. I could not see anything so I assumed it was a cat bird, but the noise being given off was 10 times what a real cat fight sounds like. I literally sounded like 2 cats ripping each other apart and it kept on going for over an hour each time I heard it.

Birds do make some surprisingly loud, and uncharacteristic noises. I don't doubt a cat bird could be the culprit in your case also.

Another possibility could be racoons. Especially if it was a den tree, and they were fighting over the best space. Like kids crammed in the backseat of a car: "Mom! His legs touching mine!"

Did it sound anything like this googoo?

Pardon the quick clip and attachment, it sounds a bit corrupted and isn't my best file of fighting raccoons, it's just this one has that little extra special something to it.
