REVISED UPDATE ON THE SONY CAMERA I POSTED ON PAGE ONE OF THIS THREAD

I have found that there IS a manuel focus on the this camera , me being absent minded over looked it , there is a switch on the side of where the lenes starts out from the body of the unit , so I take back my last above UPDATE Statement on the camera .

Sorry for any distortion of the units capability due to my scrambled mind . :tease:

oh, B&H, a favorite place.

This is what I want from B&H.

I went with a little more reach with this. Couple it with a 2x teleconverter and you can really get up close and personal.

If I had the money APO is the way to go, but with a teleconverter you lose the stop or two you gain with the APO.

Yeah, but it beats paying $10K for a F4 600MM Nikkor lens and lugging around another 11 pounds of glass.

We want to purchase live feed cams with audio that can be recorded. We used to have a high end security system but when we sold our Florida property the system stayed. That system worked well for that property, we had 4 cams with motion detector, IR and audio. But it was cabled. Had to purchase over 350' of extra cable and then rent a ditch witch to bury it encased in PVC. When the motion detector got triggered the monitor in the house would switch to the cam and the vcr would automatically start to record. We're wanting something similar but wireless with same capabilities. Expecting to be high $ and do not want to shell out the bucks unless someone else has used a similar system and are satisfied with the performance. Anyone have experience with a system like this?

I jus tpicked up a ContourGps, CountourRoam2. The best part of the GPS, is the map portion when syned to the StoryBoard software. Shows the GPS location where the video was taken. The contour series uses / has a head band and the camera slides into the connector. I also used a Go pro, but the issues with these is the square design, not streamlined like the contour versions. Check them out.

I picked up the Air Ion Pro a couple months back. I liked the contour design of it and not the boxy GoPro.

I just bought a dash cam that can be run off a car battery or a small 12 volt gell cell battery and record in full HD video and 16 megapixal still images at 30 FPS. It is a generic camera and is from china but it was only 45 $ with shipping and I thought I would try it , if it does not live up to my expectations I can sell it to the little brother to get a few pennies back.

I will be sure to post what I think of it after extensive testing. Here is the link to check it out. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-HD-1080P-30fps-Sports-IR-Dash-Dashboard-Cam-Car-Dash-Camera-Accident-DVR-/400452717379?pt=US_Surveillance_Digital_Video_Recorders_Cards&hash=item5d3cd78b43

UPDATE ON THE Dash Cam.

The unit is very cheap and flimsy bodied { it has not broken but it does feel that it could break if dropped } the buttons are hard to use and feel flimsy as well , the still image quality is like that of a 3 to 5 MP camera from 2009, the video is ,, OK ,, for my needs but not even close to what I would call HD.   Well at the least it does seem to fit my needs {  just barely } and does work as a dash cam { though not a really good one } and as a pack  camera to watch behind your back as you walk, in my opinion it is not worth sinking cash into really and I would suggest a brand name camera with good ratings.

Well they are taking pre-orders for the 9-30 release date.  I may wait for the bugs to shake out and for some of the refurb units to hit the market.

Looks like a nice play toy.  It'd be nice to know how the stuff runs through these HD monitors and how large the storage files are too.

Thermalman    , I have seen other FLIR thermals out there for around 1,000 to 1,500 that are SD recording and have LCD screens built on the units .

Would any of those types work well for getting nice footage ?

The only issues with entry level thermals FLIR i3, i5 is the resolution and the dpi of the screen. Neither of these record video, but do use SD for images. The resolutions are small, and if trying to scan a hill 100 yards away, the object may or may not be detailed enough to determine a human or cow. At least my FLIR i5 is not exceptional but worth it for scanning side roads while going slow. Just my opinion.
