What I find interesting, is that, save for the log throwing, this incident plays out nearly identical to several encounters a pal of mine had in the 90's.

Yes, ^ this, we had a member "scaredcamper" on the old forum whose family had a huge log tossed at them from lakeshore up from the water, to read his account in the LBTL site in Kentucky you could tell it shook him to the core. If Wes was not rattled, to me that is telling. Granted SC had a family to defend and he did just that by packing up that very night and abandoning camp until the next day some time.
