I would have to guess that it was 1967. It was on the nightly news and I remember asking my dad, "What's that?" And then when I heard that this monster had been filmed right here in N. CA... well, all I can say is that... uh, it had no effect on me at all.

I ended up choosing a career working in the woods of N. CA and never really thought about BF until I learned about the MMF a couple of years ago. But now when I head off into the woods, well, I still don't think about BF all that much. I do find that I'm somewhat distracted while driving to and from work though. :P

Pamassus-

yeah I remember my mother getting me up in the morning about 7:30 am about 1 month after the Patterson clip was shot It was the first news broadcast and it was on one of the early morning shows in the bay area;I think KRON in Nov. 67; I had just turned 18. Our family had been having close but not sighted encounters with something so this why my mother woke me up

Cool story ptangier. B) We had a lengthy debate on the *old* board in reference to the first time the film was actually shown on the news. I'm not sure that your story is the first, but it sure seems in the ballpark if memory serves.

One of these days you'll have to share the encounters your family experienced.

Welcome to the forum by the way. :)

I didn't see the film itself until sometime in the '90s, when it appeared on some documentary or other.

I saw a still of it (the famous "frame 352") in a book some time in the mid-to-late '80s, but that's the first time I recall seeing anything about it.

I saw The Six Million Dollar Man sasquatch episodes first probably around age 7.

I can't recal the first time I saw the Patterson Gimlin footage. But it was probably at about age 10 or 11 or so. My first viewing of Boggy Creek was probably about age 12.

But I also saw old vampire and werewolf movies around the same age and I don't think they actually exist.

Must have only been 7 or 8 (maybe younger) when I saw the "In Search Of" with Nimoy on Bigfoot. Boggy Creek, and /or Return to Boggy Creek on the tele a bit later. The first books I remember checking out of the school library were In Search of Monsters and Bigfoot:Man, Monster, or Myth. There were even some Sanderson books, including some abridged version of Legend Come to Life. looking back I think "wow, what a cool elementary school library" to have had those books!

Edit for grammar...woops....

Yeah FuriousGeorge, that Six Million Dollar Man episode shall live in infamy IMHO.

Is that the one where the creature jumps off a ledge & wipes out, then gets up and *fights* with a tame bear? If so, then I know what episode you are talking about. If not, then I have some Youtube searching to do.

Here's a clip from the Six Million Dollar Man/Bigfoot episode. The show came on Sunday evenings when I was a kid and I was always parked in front of the TV to watch it. I can still remember how *stoked* I was the week before this episode originally aired when the *highlights* for the next episode were shown and I realized BF was going to be a part of it.

The former pro-wrestler Andre the Giant played the role of BF.

It looks a bit hokey now, but at the time, it was the schnizzle..... B)

I saw the Legend of Boggy Creek when I was around seven. The two things that stood out in a small child's mind were the sounds of the screams and the title saying, "A True Story," obviously left an indelible imprint on my mind in years to come.

The 6 Million Dollar man vs. Bigfoot.... Priceless!
