Not to a skeptic.

Didn't JDL have an encounter in open ground like this. Maybe he could comment.

Of course it could, it could be covered by me in about 15 mins..

But the doubts remains as there doesn't seem to be anythign over than that " Patch " that Saskeptic mentioned, for Miles upon Miles, upon Miles..

Not to a skeptic.

I'm quite sure a 10' tall giant hairy beast could cover 2 miles overnight.

What I'm not sure of, is how it could remain undiscovered if it is making these treks through open areas of such immense size.

Wouldn't an animal that has remained so elusive require that dense cover be within easy reach?

I think of deer, they always seem to be within reach of cover, even when they cross roads, they cross where the trees come closest together on either side of the road. Surely an animal of Bigfoot's intelligence would be able to determine a 2 mile trek over open country, with no retreat in easy reach, would be dangerous.

Right. I was really excited on my trip to Concho - it was my first official bigfoot field investigation in which I could go right to the exact spot where the creature was reported to be. As we got to within a few miles of the casino, however, I found the experience disappointing. I had been hoping that the area at least looked like remotely plausible habitat for something like a bigfoot, and it didn't. It is WIDE OPEN in that surrounding landscape: pasture and cropland. Once we pulled in the parking lot at the casino I remember thinking "OK, this is just dumb."

No, there's no ecological law that precludes a large, hairy humanoid from surviving in a prairie environment. In fact, the hypothetical ancestral bigfoots must have been able to do this when they dispersed to the New World through Beringia. The point is, could they survive in such environments and remain officially undetected in 2011?

the bigfoot was spotted on the camera at night. does anybody know the specific time at night it was spotted on camera? was it after the casino closed? if so, what time did the casino close that night? and whats the walking speed of a 10+ ft bigfoot so we know how much ground it could cover if it started walking at dusk?

also per earlier posts i dont think bigfoot lives there, he musta just came into the area for food.

I did a site visit there a few years ago on a trip to do some field work with one of my grad students. I was stunned at the lack of forest cover in the land surrounding the casino. It's open rangeland (grassland) with some scattered redcedar, and then a narrow strip of riparian forest (if memory serves) a good quarter mile from the casino itself. As an indication of how open the land was, I flushed a jackrabbit from the field behind the casino.

The presumed inappropriate habitat in the area does not of course mean that a bigfoot couldn't have been there, but it sure doesn't give you a lot of confidence that there's anything to the story other than "story."

I did a site visit there too, two nights camped in that cedar scrub. There's two ways to look at that place 1. There's no way bigfoot could stay there and not make a menace of itself, and thus get busted 2. If they are there, you wouldn't be looking for a needle in a hay stack, it would be more like shooting fish in a barrel, or atleast the field sign would be more concentrated, and easier to find.

The point is, could they survive in such environments and remain officially undetected in 2011?

Maybe not! :)

You can listen to a recorded trip and interview with the investigator that claims to have seen the video here.

Within a few miles are streams with trees...

The idea that BF absolutely requires trees 24 hours a day doesn't jive with many sighting reports in more open terrain. If I were to "think like a BF" I would feel quite comfortable walking across open terrain in the middle of the night. Ever walk at night in flat wide open country? The chances of being detected are pretty small unless you are up against someone/thing with night vision.

I think they can quite easily get to areas for being hidden to rest during the day in terrain like this, and move about at night across open areas.

Anyone still interested in this one??

Having listened numerous times to the relevant BIPcast, plus researched around the topic as much as the web allows, I am very much intrigued. I think that firstly it must be due to the missing video - it's like the ultimate grail quest, so tantalizing. Secondly, there clearly was a video of something and that video was viewed by a number of people, one of whom (Roger Roberts) just sounds entirely convincing. What the hell was on that tape?? And the you tube reconstruction appears to deviate substantially from the description of the actual tape.

I also find the other purported evidence from the area only adds to the mystery...the handprints found on a vehicle, the footprints, the daylight sighting of something by Alton Higgins. It all makes for a fascinating case!

It was stated the casino stood much to lose, therefore the recording would not see the light of day after it was originally investigated.  Someone obviously has a copy and the original I'd imagine.

At one time i heard somebody took it --the original or a copy with them to Canada.  Whether they meant the country Canada or a town named Canada I can't tell you.

I was very interested in the case myself, and visited the place in 2007. There were hair samples collected also. It's a shame there isn't more conclusive results from that, but probably par for what we should expect.
