........Recording 6 hours a night, it will go for 36 days. Hopefully. We’ll see..........

Does it have some sort of timer that turns it on and off every night?

Yes sir. I’m only recording from 10pm to 4am. According to Monongahela, that’s when most audio is commonly recorded.

Cuttin in my more trails today. Bounced a bigger buck out of the feed. Hopefully he is on the game cam!

  • 2 weeks later...

I had a buddy come out and be a test pilot for the property. The more I cut the more granite rock gardens I find. No Bigfoot but I showed him the bear den I found. His Bronco is on super duty axles and 40’s. Very capable and he still got stopped twice!

Im beginning to think ORV park? Might be easy income for a semi retiree.

We are sockeye fishing at Lake Wenatchee this week. Pics to follow!

We had some of that action on the Whipsaw run, though the toughest obstacles had bypasses that were a little less puckering. I definitely made good use of my skid plates and bump stops on a few occasions. Two of the guys are 4x4 bloggers, and took loads of video and drone footage that should be edited and posted in a week or 2, and I'll link to those when they're up.

Finally got into the woods to pick some huckleberries.

100 degrees at my house in town, 25 miles away, but only 86 degrees in the middle of a huckleberry patch.

Found some older bear tracks and it occurred to me that the tendency of bears to put their rear foot right into the rear of their front track produces a lot of tracks that can appear to be a single larger bipedal foot track.  This is one I found while looking for berries...

Had a great day in the woods and the talcum powder-like dirt was perfect for tracks, but nothing found other than the usual deer, elk, wolf, bear tracks...

We have tons of Huckleberry bushes up where we are. My wife and I have been going out every weekend for the last 3 weeks to pick them. I made a Huckleberry Pie on Sunday, but forgot to put a thickening agent in, so it turned out quite runny. It was still good though, with a big dollop of ice cream on top for good measure!

Southcentral Alaska had a very sunny May & June, then a very rainy July. The high bush cranberries are already ripe! Seems like it's a month early! I'm betting the alpine blueberries are also already rip. I'll see next week............

I visited an area this afternoon that I hadn't been to in about 35 years, even though the entry to the system of old FSRs is only an hour from home, along the east side of Chilliwack Lake. I was hoping to reach the beach at the south end of the lake, but hit a locked gate a couple of km before there, at a bridge over Depot Creek, so I back tracked to the Depot Cr. FSR, and went up to the end of the road, just below a very steep, rocky ridge. Back down on the main road, I continued north to the Paleface FSR, and followed it east towards the headwaters, but stopped short of the end at a cross creek washout that looked a little too sketchy to attempt to cross without a winch, or another vehicle to rescue my old butt if I got hung up in there.

I saw very little wildlife, just a few squirrels and birds, and a few old bear scat piles, but no deer sign at all , and no sign of sasquatch. The weather was perfect, a pleasant 18C, with enough breeze to keep the bugs down, and some nice sunny breaks to brighten the cloudy sky.
