SSR Heatmaps

BC witness

"Order up!!!"

LOL, talk about fast service! Thank you for that. It appears that I live and research in the largest BC cluster, which I thought was the case. It's interesting to see that there appear to be many more reports just south of me, in Wa., especially in the Mt. Baker/Mt. St. Helens areas. I wonder if the huge difference in human population is reflected in this, as there is roughly 10 times as many people in the US as in Canada, hence only 1/10 as many eyes to see sasquatch and make reports?

I've had a multitude of different heat and cluster maps both from paid for software out of my own pocket and free software, coming out of my ears for years and have regularly shared them on here and on social media, here's just a few.

Fill your boots !

We have all the tools to take this subject forward where data is concerned, i just don't feel that there is any guidance or sustained direction as to what areas we need to focus on and make a real impact.

AWESOME!

And thank you in advance!

Not a problem. I want to help determine their behaviors too.

It would be nice to have a online GIS solution so users could do basic searches and analysis on the SSR database. If you have any ideas or software, please share. :)

Hi, I don't post much here, but I agree. I was searching the web for ideas, ideally open source based. ESRI (ArcGIS) is super easy, but costly, and if you wanted to perform advanced filtering or on-the-fly analysis, it will cost you server credits (aka $$).

For context, I'm a GIS analyst with some programming experience. I am (slowly) in the process of learning full stack development. I'd love to help build something, but I only know a little about a lot right now. However I am teaching myself. There are some great/cheap classes on Udemy for wed mapping development. Most focus on leaflet as the front-end and postGIS as the backend. I have purchased several courses. I am happy to share these resources if others are interested in learning and trying to develop an interactive web mapping platform. Just let me know...!

From my limited judgement these ideas are worth exploring.

Best example I found for filtering spatiotemporal data, using R, Leaflet and Crosstalk:

https://mrjoh3.github.io/2018/07/25/filtering-spatial-data/

Filtering Data in Leaflet:

http://millermountain.com/geospatialblog/2017/06/05/filter-data-leaflet/

Time slider w/ Leaflet and HTML5:

https://neiugis.github.io/lab7/

R and Shiny:

Free Open-source Class for Leaflet and R:

::Resources to spawn ideas::

Geospatial:

GIS:

Udemy Courses that would be useful:

Introduction to web programming for GIS Applications

Display and Analyze Data on the Web w/ Leaflet and turf.js

Maps with R and Leaflet

QGIS and PostGIS: Getting Started with Spatial Databases

Introduction to Spatial Databases with PostGIS and QGIS

Server-side web GIS Applications w/ Leaflet and PostGIS

Using open source tools to create an Enterprise GIS

Mobile GIS and Mapping Applications w/ Leaflet

Mobile GIS Data Collection Applications with Leaflet and PostGIS

Web Mapping and Web-GIS: From Dev to Deploy 2021: GeoDjango (Will require basic knowledge of Python, Django)

Right now, They just want a heatmap generator for the database. But we can talk about different ideas just in case. :)

Cool. I am happy to help with that to the extent I can. I know pyhon and spatial data, but don't have a lot of webDev experience. I am talking with gigantor to see how I can contribute. Cheers!

Sorry guys and gals. I thought I could work on a heatmap option for the database, but health reasons have made it difficult to find the time to work on the project. I will try to work on it in the future if nobody takes it on for now.
