    Meldrum is a knower now?

^^^^^ Excellent post. I'd like to expand on it............ Bobby Short passed away some years ago. She was an excellent data catcher and reporter. She wrote that Lyle "Laverty was associated with a personal Bigfoot sighting near Hyampom, California and a Bigfoot 'nest' found near Scorpion Creek in the Lonesome Ridge region........" http://www.bigfootencounters.com/articles/laverty.htm Like Meldrum's experiences, this is powerful for the individual involved. But, if true, this Leverty thing is huge in terms of him as a USFS timber cruiser supervisor and later Asst. Secretary of the Interior. Nowhere else do we read of this, although I believe Daniel Perez or another interviewer brings it up. Laverty kept it pretty quiet. Yet, when asked about Patterson and Gimlin, he expresses doubt about the film, and he clearly says that he cannot understand how a couple of Washington cowboys could show up and catch the footage of several lifetimes when so many spent so much time there and came up with so little. More conjecture, there. Like I wrote, lots of that conjecture stuff throughout...........

    Meldrum is a knower now?

Meldrum wrote about a personal encounter in his Legend Meets Science book. In 1997 he had a non-visual encounter in Northern California involving something coming into his camp at night and leaving large footprints. I didn't get the impression that this experience converted him into a knower but it probably nudged him in that direction. Standing may have tipped him over the edge. I'm ambivalent on Standing. I remember watching his Discovering Bigfoot documentary and thinking he seemed to push Meldrum into supporting Standing's claim of being the Jane Goodall of Bigfoot. Standing would keep encouraging Meldrum to do things to deepen his commitment, such as put an apple in a tree, do a Bigfoot call, confirm a foot impression is a Bigfoot print, or admit that he saw that shadow and it was a Bigfoot. It all seemed suspicious to me. A couple months ago I wrote about the anatomy of a hoax, and honestly I think Standing's behavior shows a similar pattern to Hansen's regarding the Minnesota Iceman, and unfortunately I think he may have been using Meldrum's desire to believe in Bigfoot as a pathway to convert Meldrum into a champion for Standing in the Bigfoot community. As @Huntster says, though, this is all conjecture. Here's my post for those interested. I'm not above a little self-promotion. https://thesocialbigfoot.substack.com/p/the-art-of-the-hoax
  6. It is difficult to find historical newspaper articles about a possible Bigfoot encounter in one state in the newspapers of that state. Like this one, the news articles all appear to be in papers from distant states. So we have news of an 18-inch tall hairy man found in Maine in the Perrysburg (OH) Journal on January 27, 1855. I believe that this encounter is also mentioned in the The Bigfoot Casebook by Janet and Colin Bord.
  7. My focus on Ft. Lewis is based primarily on it's regional location. First of all, it's in western Washington, which is clearly a hotspot continentally. Secondly, Ft. Lewis has been there as an Army post since 1917. That takes us back before Albert Ostman, before the Mt. St. Helen's miners, etc. It's definitely pre-modern Sasquatch Media. Thirdly, specific location of Ft. Lewis is absolutely key in that it's at the sountern end of Puget Sound. If animals migrate around the south end of the Sound rather than swim across, they'll walk on Ft. Lewis lands (unless they migrate around through lands more settled by civilians). I also make sure to qualify my position on Ft. Lewis with this: "If sasquatches exist, the Army at Ft. Lewis.........". This is, of course, because sasquatches might not exist. But, personally, I'm pretty confident that they do.............. Well, yeah, they aren't keeping it quiet. Sasquatchery has become huge. They can't keep that quiet. So they simply keep quiet about it officially, which is easy for them to do because they're very experienced at keeping things quiet............or confused. It's what they do with just about everything.
  8. My brother was stationed at Ft Lewis Washington about 20 years ago for many years. He never once heard this rumor in the US Army. It could be. He had basic clearance as a Sargent based on his MOS. Just not something he ever heard even as folklore/ wild rumors. there could be a long history of such reports and rumors in that area. Many thousands have served there over the decades. I can only relate his experience. when I consider what would be required to find, deal with, and keep quiet Sasquatch in the Washington ( or most places) it seems like a bridge too far to keep to quiet. Maybe there is a mechanism I’m not seeing.

    Good post.
  11. This is completely impossible to prove......... Of course it's not impossible to prove! It is completely possible AFTER discovery. While your statement might be true, it certainly isn't infallibly so. Simple logic can lead to the opinion that, if sasquatches exist (especially on an Army post for over a century), government must know. One doesn't need to have a negative opinion of government to believe that. Indeed, such an opinion can be seen as very positive of government not being stupidly ignorant. Of course. indeed, for the Science community, I believe this is the case. But for the U.S. Army, inhabiting Ft. Lewis for over a century...............sorry. If there have been sasquatches running around, somebody there knew about it. I'm pretty sure they don't...............but am also pretty sure that they did have at least one.
  12. Yeah, well, I'm hoping that the size and caps illustrate my frustration.
  13. You might be right. Clearly, I am as delusional as the scientific consensus saying otherwise. Bigfoot has not been proven to be real. It has not been proven to be real at a level science in general accepts as a real proven living creature. This doesn't mean you are wrong as Bigfoot exists or doesn't exist on its own merits. Yet, to say Bigdot is proven to be real is just not so. There are those who have that opinion and many have very strong credentials. Keep in mind many who think Bigfoot is a hoax or folklore also have strong credentials. This is completely impossible to prove. There are those whose view of the GOVERNMENT requires this to be true. They cannot accept bigfoot might be real and yet just an unproven primate. Their own opinion of Bigfoot and their own opinion of the Government REQUIRES the government to 1) know bigfoot exists and 2) does all it can to cover it up. Isn't it just as possible bigfoot is real, near extinct and there just isn't strong enough evidence to convince most of the science community of bigfoot existence? A body would do it. We don't have a body at this time. Let me guess: The Government HAS a body and they have LOTS of Bodies. That is jumping a shark, a Big Shark. I just see a simpler straight forward world existing on this issue. I see this as no different than whatever the Pre-PANDA world was. Whatever the Pre-Duck Billed Platypus world was. Just one man's opinion. I could very well be wrong. My reasoning doesn't require as many successful moving parts

I have no knowledge of any "proof" that Standing is a fraud. My exposure to the allegations of his fraudulence goes back way more than 8 years. I discounted all things Standing at least 20 years ago. That is based on "conjecture": an opinion or conclusion formed on the basis of incomplete information.........which is what the entire sasquatch phenomenon is. Conjecture. This is a world of conjecture. We are awash in it. Completely immersed. Nothing is proven. Opinion is pretty much all we have to go on, and opinions are not like..............well, you know. They're more like toes and fingers collectively. Everybody has lots and lots of them..............

There is a heck of alot more to evidence that Standing is a Con man than Paulides??? Paulides is simply reporting on missing persons cases on public lands. And the government cover up. Standing wants the Canadian government to recognize Bigfoot as a real species based on a couple of photos! Errmm… muppets!🤷🏻‍♂️ This best thing our community can do is ONLY accept physical evidence. But if Paulides is a con man? Standing IS Bernie Madoff! 🤨
  16. Government silence: There was an old skit from Saturday Night Live back in the 1970s where President Carter becomes giant from a Pepsi spill on the control panel at a nuclear energy factory. Once President Carter becomes nearly 100Ft tall (from radiation poisoning) reporters ask the government questions. Here is the governments answer: Female Reporter #1: Yes, is it true that the president is 100 feet tall? Ross Denton: Nooooo! Absolutely not! Male reporter #3: Is the president 90 feet tall? Ross Denton: No comment. OK, maybe a non- answer IS an answer after all. :-)
  17. Sasquatch is real. The U.S. Forest Service and other branches of government know it, and the reason they don’t openly acknowledge it has little to do with logging, despite what some people believe. The real reason for silence runs much deeper—and it would be profoundly destabilizing if the truth were admitted. Why Logging Isn’t the Issue Some argue that confirming Sasquatch would force vast tracts of forest to be shut down for conservation, crippling logging operations. That explanation is convenient, but it misses the bigger picture. In reality, logging protections would be a small policy change compared to the tectonic shock society would experience if we fully grasped what Sasquatch actually represents. Beyond Human Understanding These beings are not just another undiscovered primate. Witness accounts and field evidence suggest that Sasquatch possess abilities that challenge our most basic assumptions about physics, biology, and even consciousness. They seem able to evade detection far too effectively for their size, moving with speed and silence no known mammal can match. Some encounters describe shifts in perception, time distortions, and sudden feelings of disorientation—all phenomena that defy current science. If verified, this would mean that Sasquatch has access to dimensions of reality we don’t yet understand. Imagine what it would do to: Physics: Our current models of matter, energy, and perception would have to be rewritten. The ripple effects on technology and weaponry would be enormous. Biology: Human beings would no longer sit comfortably atop the evolutionary narrative. Sasquatch would represent a parallel lineage with capabilities we can’t reproduce. Religion & Philosophy: Entire belief systems would be shaken. Proof of a being that interacts with the physical world in ways beyond comprehension would challenge everything from creation stories to our sense of what it means to be human. The Detriment of Disclosure Society depends on consensus reality—shared rules about how the world works. Admitting that a living species can bend or bypass those rules would destabilize public trust in science, government, and religion simultaneously. Scientific institutions would lose credibility overnight as the limits of their models were exposed. Religious communities would fracture between those who embrace Sasquatch as divine evidence and those who reject it as heresy. Governments would be inundated with panic, conspiracy, and demands for control of a phenomenon they themselves don’t fully understand. Markets would reel as people scrambled to exploit or weaponize knowledge of Sasquatch’s abilities. The secrecy, then, isn’t about protecting loggers. It’s about protecting society from truths we may not be ready to process. Until our scientific and cultural frameworks evolve to handle the existence of such beings, silence is the safer path. There is no other logical explanation. Anyone claiming its about logging is quite simply not ready to go as deep as this subject requires.

I admit I have not been studying this phenomenon for as long as some. Its been about 8 years of rather focused interest on my part. I have seen the numerous anti-Standing posts, but have yet to see anything that proves him to be a fraud. If there is some sacred knowledge that the more informed have, I would be more than happy to review it.

  21. ^^^^^^^^^^ < SILENCE > Post Script: Am I angry? No, but I'm pretty frustrated..........
  22. Who speaks for "the government"? When we say, "The government says you have to be 18 or over to vote" we can go to a specific area of the government and confirm this position. There is even overlap of various agencies holding this position. Other departments would not be expected to have any position. If I was to look up the issue: AGE TO VOTE I would go to the constitution, the local courthouse, ask a government employee involved in that department, and so on. They could even give me a paper with a written statement on the requirements to vote. That would be the accurate position of the government. We could ask "How old do you have to be to vote in the USA" or "Can a 12-year-old vote in city state or federal elections?" We can find an official position to address this. All government wouldn't care but those specific departments concerned on the matter would care. They would directly address the issue with an official position. With Bigfoot I would ask how anyone would know what the government's official position is. We would first need to know what part of the government to seek. I doubt the IRS or the local property tax assessor would be places to start. Once we defined where the proper place then we would ask what is their official position? Can anyone please provide an OFFICIAL GOVENEMRNT POSITON on Bigfoot and post it on this thread? If there is one, it should be easy. <Post the official government position on Bigfoot here>

show the proof or otherwise its just conjecture. this was an interesting watch:
  26. Forums member Tirademan found several clippings about the wild man of Arkansas in 1846, 1851, and 1856; these were posted by Gigantor in the Tirademan archives. This article was published in the Cleveland (OH) Evening Post on May 15, 1852. The witnesses in this account dispute the details provided by earlier witnesses.
  27. This. The amount of evidence accumulated over the past 70 years is "overwhelming", "convincing", "compelling", "persuasive", and "conclusive" enough to warrant the U.S. government to conduct its very first official investigation into the phenomenon. If they need help, they can first interview some of the local law enforcement authorities.........like these sheriff's deputies: http://www.bfro.net/GDB/show_report.asp?id=76973
  28. THE SCIENCE COMMUNITY HAS ALREADY STUDIED BIGFOOT AND IN MY OPINION THEY HAVE PROVEN ITS EXISTENCE WITH FOOTPRINTS, EYEWITNESSES, HAIR, AND VIDEO EVIDENCE. I UNDERSTAND THAT SCIENCE REQUIRES LIVING SPECIMEN OR A DECEASED BIGFOOT BEFORE IT WILL GIVE THE STAMP OF APPROVAL DESIGNATING IT AS A PROVEN ANIMAL. I BELIEVE THAT ENOUGH EVIDENCE HAS BEEN COLLECTED AND THE FOREST SERVICE SHOULD BE ASSISTING SCIENCE TO PROVE THE EXISTENCE OF BIGFOOT. NOW THE FOREST SERVICE IS MOST LIKELY DRAGGING ITS FEET BECAUSE IT FEARS THAT BIGFOOT WILL BE LABELED AS AN ENDANGERED SPECIES WHICH COULD DEVASTATE THE LUMBER INDUSTRY. AGAIN I DON'T BELIEVE THAT BIGFOOT IS IN DANGERED BY THE LOGGING INDUSTRY SINCE DEAR OR BROUGHT IN AFTER FORCE CLEAR CUTTING AND BIGFOOT FEEDS ON THE DEER. MIB SAID: Not truly disagreeing but I'd say it slightly differently. By way of analogy, do you recall when someone characterized the Ketchum study as "not even wrong"? I see the fed gov't "official" response as similar to that. In other words, not only do they not treat bigfoot as real, I don't think they take the question of bigfoot as a serious topic .. at least not officially. Certainly we have heard some INDIVIDUALS from fed gov't deny existence; likewise, we've heard a very very few say bigfoot is real, but none speak with agency authority, rather, they speak as individual people who happen to draw a gov't paycheck. I'M NOT SURE WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT IN REGARDS TO THE KETCHUM STUDY. YES I AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT NOT STATING THAT BIGFOOT IS REAL, BUT WE DON'T KNOW IF FOREST SERVICE WILDLIFE BIOLOGISTS WORKING FOR THE GOVERNMENT ARE SECRETLY STUDYING BIGFOOT AND COLLECTING EVIDENCE IN CASE IT BECOMES A PUBLIC ISSUE AND WHETHER OR NOT BIGFOOT SHOULD EVEN BE RECOGNIZED. I CAN'T BELIEVE THE FOREST SERVICE AT THE TOP LEVELS HAS NOT BEEN RESEARCHING BIGFOOT AND COLLECTING EVIDENCE BECAUSE IT'S GOING TO BE EVENTUALLY BROUGHT TO THE FOREFRONT AND THE FOREST SERVICE WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT.
