Yep. Everything would depend on how human Bigfoot would be. I'll go off the idea Bigfoot is an ape. Even then, the public would react through various actions. We are left to guess what ones they might be. I would think at minimum the Bigfoot Ape (Bigis Americanis Meldrum) would be classified as endangered protected animal along the lines of the Bald Eagle or beyond. I think we live in such a selfish world there would be an effort to dimmish any Bigfoot concern shortly after discovery. Society would move on and say, "look we can't let some rare animal stop progress. We will make it illegal to kill one unless it is self-defense. Otherwise, we need lumber. We need houses" I feel the environmental movement is well intentioned in a complicated world. If they would try to stop logging because of a rare owl, they would certainly play Bigfoot for all it is worth. But by that token guys who sell sightseeing maps would promote Bigfoot tourism as well as the local hotel owner. The NRA would try to use the fear of the North American Ape (Bigis Americanis Meldrum) to promote guns. Each would view it in terms of their own benefit. That would be expected with Bigfoot or anything else for that matter on a case-by-case basis. In the end I would predict Bigfoot would settle into an endangered species where you aren't allowed to kill one. The internet tells me the first offense to killing a Bald Eagle is as follows: Up to $100,000 in fines, 1 year in federal prison, or both ALL BETS ARE OFF if Bigfoot was nearly human with primitive language and understanding. Then, I have NO ANSWERS to the question. Finally, I jokingly refer to Bigfoot as Bigis Americanis Meldrum. However, I do believe 100% if Bigfoot ever became a proven creature Dr. Jeff Meldurm would be credited in the science world linked to the name of this animal.

I've pondered this as well. There is, however, one (somewhat humiliating) option .. maybe, rather than them being "magic", we're just more inept than we give ourselves credit for.

True, I have always said something similar myself. But discovery probably leaves eye-witnesses with even more questions than anyone else. I would imagine that Bigfoot witnesses who have no doubt in their (sane) minds that they saw exactly what is described as Bigfoot might wonder more than anyone else, why and how Bigfoot can elude Scientific description. Such is apparently just the case with our Forest Giants. That is exactly what makes me think that something funny is definitely going on. I see no way for them to be just extraordinary, yet other-wise normal, animals.

Those who have seen <adjective> evidence for themselves know that sasquatches exist. They might not know exactly what they are or how Science would/will taxonomically categorize them, but "discovery" is a done deal for them.

There are fossil records of all kinds of hominins, including very large ones like sasquatches such as Gigantopithecus. It's clearly some kind of drone. Whether it's extraterrestrial or not, I don't know.

^ I think Huntster may be referring to the teeth and mandibles attributed to Gigantopithecus, georgerm. (If not, he will probably correct me soon.) I watched the video you linked regarding the Bulga Sphere, Huntster. Interestingly, that is apparently about the same size and shape, and it moves similar to what I saw fly past me about 35 years ago, except the object I saw appeared almost to be on fire with orange flames. Maybe the tiny Alien craft I saw travelled a million+ light-years but then traffic on Earth was just too much for them.. That is really a topic for a different forum, I guess. I didn't mean to detract from this interesting topic because we have plenty to argue about discuss regarding our favorite giant human-apes. What do many of us already know? There are many witnesses to Bigfoot and I absolutely believe that they saw exactly what they describe but; what do they even know for sure? Near death experiences are fascinating too, but again, no 'required proof' for Science. I use the character: ' (open quote) not to upset anybody, but to indicate that the words contained within were said in some context, Norseman. You said, and I quote verbatim: "Science will require one male and one female type specimen. It’s required for every extant species on the planet." I asked you to reference that specifically which, you did not. Instead, you want me to show your statement not to be true? Even Science cannot prove a negative using only logic. Your statement could only be proven false by testing which, as of now, cannot be done either.

Where did you find that we had a fossil record of bigfoot? What do you think the buga sphere's purpose is?

"Discovery" is a sham. All it is is permission for the masses to accept what many of us already know to be true. With regard to ghosts/spirits, we already know that people die, and later return and talk about things they couldn't possibly know. Lots and lots and lots of people. It's all just shoveled into the religion drawer, which is right above the sasquatch drawer. We already know, and Science accepts, that sasquatch creatures have lived in the past. They have fossils. The only mystery is whether they're still around, and the evidence says that they are. I personally don't accept extraterrestrial visits, but can't explain much of the phenomenon we see and have actually captured:

More importantly, I think that sasquatches, when discovered, might be classified as a member of the genus Homo, and would thus be "human", not "animal", so the protections might end up being "overly". Regarding the environmental industry, they are currently silent (and I mean completely so) with regard to sasquatchery, which is frankly suspicious, but after discovery, they'll be making more noise than a continuous nuclear detonation.

Hello! My name is Kerry Kilmury, from Vancouver Island, B.C. Since my first sighting of a white sasquatch when I was 17, I have been pretty much hooked since. I have been working on my sasquatch sightings map since 2013, lots of work but so incredibly interesting! Thanks for allowing me in to the group.

The public and animals: Back in the old days I imagine movie production was less concerned about animal harm. Today there are more concerns probably based on public input. Some might even say we have gone too far the other way. I don't know what the public would demand to protect Bigfoot but there would be something. The only question would be what level of those protections. How far might we go?

Last summer ( 2025) my wife and I house sat for my former school superintendent while she and her husband went to Africa. A photo safari. They sat down for lunch after a morning excursion and Jane Goodall walked in and started talking to the group. What a great experience that must have been! Then Dr. Goodall passed a little more than a month later.

Yes, I am very surprised and disappointed that so many people can be duped, especially lately. Along with that though, I just don't believe that, if our Government had definitive proof of Bigfoot, extra-terrestrials, ghosts, etc., that they could collectively keep those things secret to the extent required for the current levels of 'un-discovery'. Something(s) exist which, in my opinion are, to date, beyond our ability to even comprehend.

Apparently, you would be surprised at how well they can dupe the masses.

Now, in winter when Bigfoot tracks can most easily be found, the area is closed "to prevent the spread of Phytophthora lateralis, a non-native pathogen that causes Port-Orford-cedar root disease." ^ That is an advanced explanation and I give you a lot of credit for attention to detail. Don't you think, however, that the Government Bigfoot conspiracy theories are getting a little bit carried away? When I watch and listen to a lot of the people in power these days, I wonder how they can even tie their shoes in the morning much less keep any secrets about a 10' tall primate. Hold on a sec. So, 'the rules' require killing a male and a female Bigfoot so they can be classified but then, if anyone harms another one, they should be hung? What if their clan doesn't understand why the puny humans killed two of their relatives and they start throwing giant rocks at cabins and ripping people's arms off? To me, it only makes sense to think this thru before even thinking about going out on a hunt to kill Bigfoot.
