Since he wasn't killed, it was gutsy. Had he been killed, it would have been stupid. I might have been able to do it with a handgun in my hand.

It's interesting. Animals DO evacuate from fire areas, even long distances. I'm a little dubious about the nature of the write up though, then again, it's done by a resort that would use the BF/SQ phenomenon as a marketing tool. You can tell it was written by someone who does PR "Could this finally be the definitive proof...." et al. Either way, it's interesting. Too bad Cliff B didn't check out and cast the tracks.

With all our fires, I wonder that, too. Those are pretty neat photos. Whomever found them had a good eye. Most people would not notice.

I admit I haven't read the whole thread, so if this has been discussed, forgive me. With Dr. Meldrum gone now, if there was physical evidence in hand, what do we do with it? And no, I don't have anything, but I've been wondering.

I recall another story, again I think from Peter Byrne (therefore, in a book, not a researchable internet source) where a sasquatch was hanging out near a camp for disabled kids somewhere in south-central BC. Eventually, a camp administrator, counselor, or employee (I can't remember which) sat still by a campfire one night as the sasquatch approached to within a few feet. The guy wasn't even armed. I have no doubt whatsoever that these creatures could respond well to body language, especially the females.

Yeah, I doubt she was thinking, "I sure would like to mate/hang out/party with this guy". But I wonder how it could have gone if the guy wasn't terrified and used more welcoming body language?

It needs to be solid enough for science to go look for themselves. Two type specimens (one male and one female) will be taken for any extant species.

How I interpret the encounter. 1) Growl- What is this thing (tent) doing in my spot! Whoa! A human male popped out and is shooting at me! Run away! 2) Rock tossing- Get the hint! Pack up your garbage and leave my fishing spot, NOW! 3) Human is now outside tent- Wow maybe I won’t have to fish after all! He is kinda cute though. I will approach him in the open this time and see what he does. Nope! He is shooting at me again! Run away!

Oh, I can assure you that I (personally) am NOT going to have a "Sasquatches in the Mist" experience. My time in the mist for any reason is coming to a close. Yeah, that appears likely. So I'll just leave it alone. Heck, I can't even get Mrs. Huntster to go down to the PNW in winter anymore, and I'm certainly not going down there in summer, so I'll probably never even see one from the safety and comfort of a car. I remember a story from (I believe) Peter Byrne about a woman who lived in a house in a wooded area who had a pregnant sasquatch hanging around. She'd see it from the window on occasion. Then she saw it once with the baby, and didn't see it again. No pics makes it somewhat suspicious, but she might have had my attitude. This story was interesting. Tirademan found an Oregon report near Halfway, Oregon. I could not find anything specific, but I did find two editorials published in Oregon papers questioning the Bigfoot phenomena; here's one from the Salem (OR) Statesman Journal, published on March 23, 1966.

I don’t think you’re gonna have a “Gorillas in the mist” style experience with Sasquatch. In my opinion they will choose the time and place of most encounters. And only three reasons for an encounter. 1) They kidnap you as a potential mate. Albert Ostman? Indian Folklore? 2) They kidnap you as a potential adopted offspring. Dennis Martin? Indian Folklore? 3) They kidnap or attack you as a potential food source, or revenge or territorial. Russell Annabel Gilyuk, Bart Schleyer, Indian Folklore, Ape Canyon? And you’re not likely to survive any of the three encounters. We are not dealing with a tropical hominid, we are dealing with something that spends a great deal of time in cold, wet and winter conditions. It must then hunt to sustain itself. It must have a very high caloric diet. With many stories of Sasquatch hunting ungulates and eating fish and shellfish. In the right setting at the worst time of year? I could see an isolated human being taken for food easily. That’s just not something that Gorillas do.
