  3. Now, that right there is World Class wit! I salute you, and am jealous that I didn't come up with it. If you are not opposed, I think I need to add that to my profile signature........properly accredited, of course........ Nor do I, because I don't believe extraterrestrial aliens are visiting this planet. However, IF they were, I'm absolutely convinced that government would suppress that information from the public, and........ ..........they may very well be using the illusion that it is aliens flying around in secret military craft that they themselves are creating and experimenting with in our skies. Understood. You've done well to make that clear over the past few years that these questions have been discussed, and it's a very valid foundation of skepticism. However, I believe you are somehow missing the magnitude of another extant human species still sharing our planet, and which is nearing extinction. The worldwide political response to such news would be every bit as a concern (even if different) to national governments as the discovery of extraterrestrial aliens. There is no requirement for sasquatchery to rise to the level of fear that ray-gun toting aliens bring to the table to accept the possibility that government is suppressing the "discovery" of sasquatches. Indeed, I fear "human rights lawyers" MUCH more than I fear phaser-toting aliens, primarily because I KNOW "human rights lawyers" exist in numbers far, far greater than the numbers of sasquatches, I know what dangers they pose to both human society in the macro as well as to a dying race of primitive humans, and I don't believe phaser-toting aliens exist. Agreed, and back at 'ya. Think of our discussions on this an unqualified repeat of the Owens/Huxley public debates on Darwinism/evolution, which just happened to coincide with the acceptance (not "discovery") of the gorilla (imagine that co-incidence!)...........

Is there? Really? Are you sure? As-reported, true, however, I'm not sure that aspect of what is reported isn't fabricated for purposes of creating drama where none existed thus creating sales opportunity where none existed. In other words, the notion of a gov't conspiracy is Paulides' conspiracy. And others .. he's not the only one making a living on the appearance of solving a mystery that doesn't actually exist. P.T. Barnum would be proud. Those cases where I've talked to people who were involved in the search present things in a different manner than Paulides. The loss of life is tragic but not particularly mysterious.
  6. If a person is convinced our government is in cooperation with Aliens, the sky is the limit on what else can fit that narrative. This position makes it much easier to believe any action needed downstream from that same government. If I don't happen to believe the Aliens-Government thing at all as we both know. This makes me less likely to believe the government knows about Bigfoot and is keeping it quiet. I can agree our government would do some of the things you might imagine involving areas of National Security. Again, the Magnitude is the defining issue. The funny thing is I am more than willing from my perspective to open the door to your position provided I was given a good enough reason the issue raising to a level like national security. (There is that darn Magnitude again). Once someone is convinced of the Close Encounters world, anything they dream up is always possible. Such a foundational belief makes your type of conclusions much easier to believe. Since I am convinced our government WOULD do a massive UFO cover up should they exist, I just happen to require any other issue rises to that level. It is all about the magnitude, as it should be. It's not "silly" at all. I respect where you are coming from. I don't know how else to say it but I don't buy the first thing (Government-Alien-Connection) so I can't buy the second thing (Government coving up Bigfoot). If one buys the first thing then they have the mental currency to buy just about anything. I have found sometimes discussing these things with those convinced came come across as an attack on what they happen to believe. This isn't the case. It's just a respectful disagreement.
  7. The Humboldt Standard also had its graphics department prepare a map and reported on Ray Wallace's threat to sue anyone who said he was the hoaxer behind the strange tracks.
  8. As part of its preparation to run the story, the Humboldt Standard sent a reporter to look at the tracks found in the Bluff Creek area.
  9. On October 12, 1958, two loggers saw Bigfoot cross a road in the Bluff Creek area, leading to a front-page story, with multiple sidebars, being published by the Humboldt Standard three days later on October 15, 1958.
  10. The conventional wisdom states that after filming "Patty" sometime around 1:30 PM on October 20, 1967, Roger Patterson called a reporter at the Times-Standard, published in Eureka, California, "some eight hours" after the event (i.e., around 9:00 to 9:30 PM). The phone call lasted until late that night, when Roger was anxious to get back to his horses. The resulting story was purportedly published in the Times-Standard's morning edition on October 21, 1967. The October 21, 1967 edition of the Eureka Times-Standard is not available on Newspapers.com. The only copy to be found on the internet appears to be on Bobbie Short's (RIP) Bigfoot Encounters website; this copy omits the paper's masthead on the first page or the header on the second page, thus, researchers do not know from the document what day it was published. Nonetheless, Daniel Perez saw a microfiche copy of this article and has consistently stated that the article was published in the October 21, 1967 Times-Standard. See Bigfoot at Bluff Creek: A Pictorial Discussion, p. 109. The Bigfoot Encounters copy of the article is on the Newspaper and Magazine Articles page at the very top http://www.bigfootencounters.com/; an updated post which includes images of the newspaper clippings (done the old-fashioned way) and a photograph of Roger Patterson with various casts is at http://www.bigfootencounters.com/articles/9-inch-track.htm. Note that the Bigfoot Encounters website is different and does not link directly to some pages. Click on the "Newspaper and Magazine Articles" tab; the Times Standard article is the very first one on the page.
  11. The Province (Brit. Col.) ran this article while Roger, Bob, and others were in British Columbia for one of the first public showings of the P-G film.
  12. While large footprints were first reported to the Humboldt Standard in September, a set of tracks found on or about Wednesday, October 1, 1958, appears to have launched this article. The paper took time investigate the report, talk to Gerry Crew's friends and neighbors, and write the article, which appeared on October 6, 1958. This incident received little traction outside of California and the Pacific Northwest. A a search of Newspapers.com revealed only 193 newspapers across the US which had a story about "Bigfoot" in October and this includes stories about Bigfoot Wallace (a Texas Ranger), the town of Bigfoot (in Texas), a burglar nicknamed, and duplicate references to the same articles.

I've had my suspicions about Paulides for years, especially since the skeleton of dennis martin was allegedly found by ginseng poachers back in the 80's. I don't remember where I read it but a skeleton of a boy who would've been the size and age of dennis martin and in the vicinity of where he was taken was allegedly found by ginseng poachers sometime in the 80's who anonymously reported it to authorities.

  16. This is an A-I generated summary of the likely publishing timeline for the Eureka Times-Standard in 1967. It admittedly contains some errors - the paper had an afternoon edition during the week and morning editions were only published on Saturday and Sunday. However, this gives a good overview of the steps involved in printing a newspaper. This information calls into question whether Roger Patterson's phone call to a reporter from the Times-Standard late Friday evening could have resulted in a front-page article the next morning. Forums member OldMort provided a more detailed summary of the actual production process. In 1967, producing a newspaper article for a 12,000-copy circulation involved a labor-intensive process that combined manual typesetting, mechanical printing, and logistical coordination. Here's a breakdown of how long it might have taken: 🕰️ Estimated Timeline for Typesetting and Printing (1967) 1. Typesetting • Method: Most newspapers used Linotype machines by the 1960s, which allowed operators to type lines of text that were cast in metal. • Time Required: • A skilled operator could set 4–6 lines per minute. • For a large article (say, 1,500–2,000 words), typesetting could take 2–4 hours, depending on complexity and corrections. 2. Page Layout and Proofing • Layout: Assembling the article into a page with headlines, columns, and any images. • Proofing: Editors reviewed galley proofs for errors. • Time Required: 1–2 hours, including corrections. 3. Plate Making (Stereotyping or Offset Prep) • Process: Creating a printing plate from the typeset page. • Time Required: 1–2 hours per page. 4. Printing Method: Offset printing was becoming more common, replacing letterpress. Speed: Mid-size presses could print 1,000–2,000 copies per hour. Time Required: For 12,000 copies, 6–12 hours, depending on press speed and setup time. 5. Folding and Distribution Folding: Often done with mechanical folders. Distribution: Bundled for delivery or mailing. Time Required: 2–3 hours.
  17. Unfortunately, this article is very typical of early reports. Brief and non-descriptive, and published in a paper located far from where the events occurred. Published in the York (PA) Democratic Press on August 5, 1842. The Litchfield (CT) Enquirer took the opportunity to poke fun at a politician.
  18. What happens when a collection of ordinary people — from military veterans to Minnesota campers — step into the woods and walk away with something they can never unsee? In this chilling compilation episode, Jeremiah Byron takes us into the raw, unfiltered world of call-ins from across the United States, where witnesses recount violent, mysterious, and heart-pounding encounters with Bigfoot. You’ll hear firsthand stories from the glacial moraines of Foothills State Forest in Minnesota, where cantaloupe-sized rocks were hurled through the air — and one witness was struck in the shoulder by a smaller “warning shot.” A former Marine sniper describes the night his unit watched a 9-foot figure pick up a 120-pound metal target and throw it across a field — before being ordered to never speak of it again. And from the shadows of Fort Hall Reservation in Idaho, a terrifying scream echoes out, followed by a pounding on the window... of a boy who had just dreamed of Bigfoot. These are not legends. These are not secondhand stories. These are real people — with real fear, real emotion, and real scars. 🗣️ Share Your Story Had a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience? 28. What happens when a teenage camping trip on Prince of Wales Island turns into a face-to-face encounter with something that isn’t supposed to exist? In this wild and unforgettable episode, we sit down with Nick Blankenship — author of Mythical Owl — who shares his firsthand account of seeing a female Sasquatch rise from the riverbank in full daylight, smashing fish with a rock, just 75 feet away. But that’s only the beginning. From tree knocks and howls near Sandy Beach to glowing orbs above the mountains, and a white owl that landed silently on the back of his car — Nick’s life has been shaped by decades of close encounters. We dig into Native perspectives, the mystery of missing time, and a chilling pattern: these beings tend to show up not in fear… but in joy. You’ll hear tales from Thorne River, Gravelly Creek, and the dark forests near Kasaan — where legends of abductions and school shutdowns only add to the mystery. If you’ve ever felt the forest watching you… this is the episode for you. Resources: Nick's book - Mythical Owl - https://amzn.to/4l8MGG5 ( Amazon affiliate link) Raincoast Sasquatch by Dr. J.
