I have been looking for some hobbies to occupy my time as of late and camping and hiking are areas in which I always enjoyed in the past with friends. Now that those people have left my life, I am looking to pick up where I left off without them. Why not occupy my time researching this while I am out there to begin with, I guess. I am also planning on giving this total time and devotion. The best is yet to come!

Happy Anniv. Mr and Mrs. Huntster! I hope you are both feeling much better. Heat index in TN, MS and AR has been 110-127 sometimes lately and IT is nasty. (Climate change denialists look away, there is nothing to see here.) But, yes, Happy Birthday, USA! Our leaders are doing a lot of stupid things right now, but hopefully common sense will eventually prevail. I have hope for the future because we have smart and wonderful kids who deserve much, much better and they will change things. The recent BFF outage was unprecedented; thank-you Gigantor and whoever else helped to get it running again. Semper Fidelis!

This story was not found when searching for "goatman" but was found after I discovered references to the Lake Worth Monster. From the Fort Worth (TX) Star-Telegram on Friday, July 11, 1969. Interesting story.

First mentioned in the Rochester (NY) Democrat and Chronicle and several other papers on February 15, 1902. However, a follow-up story from The Bucyrus (OH) Evening Telegraph on February 18, 1902 suggests that this was a canine, not Bigfoot. Two months later, an article in The Baltimore (MD) Sun published on April 13, 1902, confirmed that the Dismal Swamp monster was a canine of some sort.

While not quite as historical as older newspaper article, it is likely that few current researchers knew about this report. It did not make the BFRO's database but Forums member Redbone has added it to the SSR. I also found the article he provide, which was published in The Daily American of Somerset (PA) on June 29, 1992.

Who wouldn't want to visit Johnstown in the dog days of summer? (Raises hand.) I grew up near there, so I can joke about it; everyone else needs to mind their p's and q's. This is the first of a few bonus historical newspaper archives to celebrate the Forums coming back to life. The article was published in The Daily Times of Salisbury (MD) on August 26, 1980. The best copy of the track photo I found was published in the Centre Daily Times of State College (PA) on August 26, 1980. EDIT: I forgot to add that this is encounter #992464 in John Green's data base and attribute it to him. I would have never known to look for it without his database and without Redbone's efforts to add those reports to the Standardized Sightings Record (SSR) project.
