I think of Anna Nikaris discovery of an unknown animal. The interest isn’t that it looked like bigfoot. The issue is the animal existed but was undiscovered until recently. To me the animal doesn’t have to be impressive. The principal of discovery makes it impressive. Dr Nikaris even had a lecture with the possibility of Bigfoot existing.

If it’s military grade footage with a legit chain of custody from the military? It still proves nothing. But if the military and border patrol is seeing cryptids? It certainly may make science more interested to look.

I don’t know how modern it is but I think Mr. Thorn is on to something. He just needs better camera trap techniques.👍

This is a bit rhetorical, not looking for an answer, rather, suggesting a question we should each ask ourselves. In light of others' responses, I want to look at this question again from a different angle. Success at what? Personal experience or scientific acceptance .. or something else (if so, what)? These are not the same thing. A lot of people continue having personal experiences that I strongly suspect are legitimate. Documented .. in a sense .. in that they are shared here and other places. Not rigorously enough for scientific use, but documented. I don't think these personal experiences are moving the needle toward acceptance. Maybe they silence a few hecklers but there are plenty of those remaining. So .. what is the goal? What is your goal, my goal, "our goal", "community goal"? If they are not the same, which are moving forward and which have stalled? MIB

I think the proliferation of formal and informal group expeditions suggests that numerous approaches are effective in producing encounters of various kinds, which may mean success to the people who learn things from them. Those who press for scientific acceptance/discovery are going to be unsuccessful then, I agree, as I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Interesting question. The answer hides in "realistic" .. and despite some strong beliefs, nobody truly knows that is or is not realistic so far as approaches. Maybe we are all tilting at the windmill's reflection instead of the windmill. If so, the number of people with a realistic chance of success is .. zero. Maybe the only thing we are doing right, at all, is by being out there trying futilely, we are at least putting ourselves in a place where a fortunate accident can happen. Certainly the lack of results producing scientific acceptance, something true since before the PGF, which will be 60 years next fall, suggest we are not doing something very effectively ... not you, not me, not BFRO, not .. anybody. So for the moment, I'll say "zero."
