  2. Published in The Evening Sun of Baltimore (MD) on November 10 and 16, 1944. Given that the overwhelming descriptions of the snallygaster include waterwings and a flying creature, these reports are included because of the strange howls and huge footprints. As I was typing this entry, I realized how much we take for granted these days - just a generation before me, country homes didn't have refrigerators....
  3. Again from the Sun-Journal of Lewiston, Maine, on November 30, 1896 and January 27, 1897.
  4. This story is identified in The Bigfoot Casebook Updated by Janet and Colin Bord; it is from the appendix of a book titled The Hermit of Siskiyou - or - Twice-Old Man, which can be found at https://archive.org/details/hermitsiskiyou00musicrich/mode/2up. This book was published in 1896 "to aid in the perpetuation of some of the quaint legends that have become in a degree historical" of the Siskiyou Range. It might be a great book for California history buffs, although its written like an epic poem - so be prepared. I've included both the poetical telling of the wild man and the note from the appendix.
  5. In this episode, we delve into the experiences of Jimmy and Roxanne from southern Indiana, a couple who have spent years exploring the rugged terrain of the Hoosier National Forest and the surrounding counties of Crawford, Orange, Perry, and Harrison. What began as a shared curiosity gradually turned into a series of encounters that have continued to unfold across multiple locations. Jimmy, a lifelong woodsman, and Roxanne, who has spent years researching the phenomenon, share how their time in these remote forests has brought them face to face with unexplained activity. From rocks appearing out of nowhere while fishing to distinct wood knocks echoing through the hills, their experiences began subtly before building into something far more complex. As they continued returning to the same areas, they began noticing patterns—unusual tree structures, moments where they felt watched, and sounds that didn’t match anything familiar to the region. A winter hike led to a sequence of events that left a lasting impression, while later trips along a quiet river revealed something unexpected in both sound and image. Their accounts span years and multiple counties, all tied together by a deep familiarity with the land and a growing awareness that something shares those woods with them. Jimmy and Roxanne offer a grounded and detailed look into what they’ve experienced, inviting listeners to consider what might be present in the forests of southern Indiana. Join us as we explore their ongoing encounters and the quiet persistence of something just beyond view in the Hoosier National Forest. 🗣️ Share Your Story Had a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience? 11. I only know of two he wrote for True, "The Strange Story of America's Abominable Snowman" for the December 1959 edition, and "A New Look at America's Mystery Giant" for the March 1960 edition. There's probably others I'm forgetting, though. I found an illustration from each I believe, but it'd be nice to verify them and see if the articles featured more! From the December 1959 edition: From the March 1960 edition:
  12. I thought it was the December 1960 edition, but it was in one of the True magazine articles that ITS wrote. Right now I believe that they're all probably on the Bigfoot Encounters website, but they have text only for most articles.
  13. John writes "Hey Wes, I'm writing from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. I've been a regular listener for several years. When I was 14, back in July or August of 1994, I took my small scooter down a rough dirt road used by the local power commission to access power lines. About half a kilometer in, the terrain got too difficult to keep going, steep dips and uneven ground, so I shut the bike off to take a break. It was a warm, sunny day around midday. Out of nowhere, everything went completely silent. The best way I can describe it is like someone put ear protection over me. I had never experienced anything like that before. As I looked back down the path I had just come from, I saw something I'll never forget. About 500 feet away was a creature that looked somewhat like an African lion, but… not right. Its eyes were solid black, and it had a full mane around its head. I couldn't see its hindquarters clearly because they were partially obscured by trees and brush. It was on all fours. The closest comparison I can make is that it resembled what some people describe as a Dogman." At that point in my life, I was a paperboy with excellent eyesight, and I saw all kinds of dogs on my route regularly. This was not a dog. I was absolutely terrified. There was something about it that felt wrong, almost like it didn't belong in this world. I can still remember its mane moving slightly in the breeze and the intense, predatory stare it had locked on me. After about 10–12 seconds of just staring at each other, I tried revving my little 70cc bike, hoping to scare it off. It didn't react at all. After another several seconds, it slowly backed into the woods without ever breaking eye contact. That's when it hit me, I had to go back the same way I came. There was no other way out. I was genuinely afraid it might circle around or ambush me if I stayed any longer, so I made the decision to go. I sped past the spot as fast as that little bike would take me, pretty much expecting it to come crashing out of the woods at any moment. About seven years later, I told a friend who lived in that area about what I saw. He told me his father had reported seeing something very similar around that same time. For context, I later spent 10 years working as a police officer and have seen a number of unusual things during that time, some of which might be worth sharing as well. One other detail that's always stuck with me: around that same period in my life, I had also experimented with a Ouija board, and that led to an experience that still bothers me to this day. I'm 45 now, and it's something I've never fully shaken. If this is something you'd be interested in, I'd be happy to talk more. Best regards," Listen to the Podcast

  15. Was this the illustration that was featured in the March 1960 edition ofTrue magazine by Ivan T. Sanderson? Or something else entirely?
  16. The Green/McClarin discussion (between themselves) is on YT. McClarin is quite sure he was stepping "within inches" of the trackway. He says there was still some plaster residue to observe. He also had been to the site a few days (or maybe it was a week) after the PG filming , so he knew the trackway well. Green is considered to have been within a yard of where Roger was filming (they triangulated it repeatedly until things lined up), and knelt down to mimic what Roger had to do. So its a very good re-creation. Even Packham in the (skeptical) BBC documentary admitted that Patty was "just a few inches taller" than McClarin, but that puts the subject at 6'8" or more. And that's in stride, hunched over. Standing height would be more (there's a formula for it). Seven feet even is not out of the question at all.

  21. Just bumped into this post from a Google search. Thanks for posting it. Canasarega NY used to have, not sure if they still do, a wild woman festival. It was based on this legend and I've hunted in those woods and my experiences there are posted here somewhere. As is a friend's experience he had just a few miles North of there in the Rattlesnake Hill state forest. They may have made up a story as their origins, but the story is simply that, a story, to explain bigfoot activity. Ironically, the tyrannical governor of NY, Hochul, just put all state forests on the chopping block, potentially to be sold off to "renewable energy providers" because not enough private land owners will sell their land for solar farms. Forget that solar farms are a scam in NY where we don't get enough sun long enough or frequently enough for the installations to ever even break even. So there will be even less public land in this area, and life will become even less worth sticking around in NY.
  22. "O Ye of Little Faith." I've seen a few videos showing Bobby H. doing his walk. Patty's walk has nothing to do with the swinging of her arms. It has everything to do with the combination of: 1) The compliant gait and 2) the 41" step length and 3) the substrate upon which she walked which was uneven and moved beneath her foot and 4) her ability to maintain her graceful steps despite all the above while looking back as she continued to glide along. Those who think it's no big deal--try it at home. Place markers every 41" then attempt to do it in a controlled environment where the flooring is rigid and perfectly flat. Be sure to maintain your lower leg nearly parallel to the ground as you lift your knee while striding along. Next, go to the beach and attempt the same walk while barefoot where the subtrate will move as your foot sinks in. Finally, maintain that same 41" step length and lookback as you continue to walk, never looking down at your feet. I've never seen anyone who video'd themselves who didn't look like they were ready to topple over. A clumsy oaf, rather than a graceful and gliding ballerina, and those who've attempted it did so without a costume, including full head gear, and footwear that would leave 14 1/2" long impressions in the substrate that could be casted.

  24. In this episode, we delve into the extraordinary experiences of Rick and Mandy from southern Ohio, who have spent years encountering something they can’t fully explain in the forests surrounding the Ohio River. Living in a region known for dense woods, winding back roads, and hidden pockets of activity, they share how a simple day of hiking turned into a series of ongoing encounters that continue to unfold. Describing moments of being followed through the trees, hearing unexplained vocalizations, and discovering massive footprints and unusual structures, Rick and Mandy paint a vivid picture of a place where the normal rules of the woods don’t seem to apply. Their experiences span remote trails, cemeteries, and quiet stretches of forest where something always seems just out of sight. They also explore the deeper side of what they’ve witnessed, from strange environmental changes to encounters that challenge the boundary between physical and unexplained phenomena. Over time, their curiosity has grown into a dedicated effort to understand what shares these woods with them. Join us as we follow Rick and Mandy’s ongoing journey through southern Ohio, where each trip into the forest brings new questions—and the feeling that something is always watching from just beyond the tree line. 🗣️ Share Your Story Had a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience? Okay...so then what?

The PGF while an amazing film? Proves nothing. The war isn't going to be won with films, interviews, conferences, plaster casts or audio analysis. The war will be won with bone, flesh, scat, blood and saliva. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  26. Honestly, this whole thing seems like hearsay to me at this point, which is almost always considered to be weak 'evidence'. Bob G. himself could tell me in person that the PGf was a hoax (I really don't think he would) but, I would still doubt that. The PGf rehearsal being touted (as I understand), will need to be very convincing in order to sway my opinion. And, I would bet you a dollar that it isn't. If the PGf subject were or, if it even could be realistically replicated with, a costume, that would have been done many times by now.

    Okay...so then what?

If this film is a fake then I’m completely delusional and shouldn’t be evaluating the phenomenon.
