Survivorman back at the search for Sasquatch
Huntster replied to NorCalWitness's topic in General Bigfoot Discussion
First, define the cause. Is it: 1) Profit? 2) Catch a sasquatch? 3) Help sasquatches? 4) Further Science? 5) Fame? 6) Etc, etc, etc? - Today

Survivorman back at the search for Sasquatch
Backdoc replied to NorCalWitness's topic in General Bigfoot Discussion
When it comes to efforts around a cause I always say this: Is what they are doing helpful or harmful to the cause. Let's talk Bigfoot. Obviously, a show like Survivorman or whatever live and die by ratings. They are not doing it for free. TV has Shark Week. They never seem to have Garden Slug Week or Worm Week as the ratings would be pretty bad. Like any business so long as Survivorman or Running Wild with Bear is not fraudulent or harming people more power to them. I see Surviroman or whatever as a useful vehicle to help promote the discussion of bigfoot. The bigfoot issue gets to ride on coat tails of all the fans of these shows. It is only a problem if the person doing the promoting engages in fraud or other things which harm the public. Apart from that, it is useful to the Bigfoot subject. It would be no different than them promoting a brand of hiking shoe. When it comes to Survivorman his shows make the viewer feel what it is like to really be out there in the middle of nowhere. Once this is achieved a viewer is more likely to consider there could be all kinds of things out there yet to be discovered. If Les wants to promote Bigfoot, Bigfoot gains credibility. Where I see a problem: To me the subject of Bigfoot is in a trail in the court of Public Opinion. To make your case you want to have the best people out there doing it. In this way you want Meldrum, Munns, and so on. Sorry to say it but shows like Finding Bigfoot come across as Goofy. In this way the Goofy factor far outweighs the benefit of having some Bigfoot dialog. The Bigfoot issue won't get total acceptance until there is body. But any acceptance it will ever get will only be by representatives and experts the public can be comfortable with. I'll take Survivorman. I'll take any of these people who want to loan us their credibility to show the discussion of Bigfoot can be an adult, reasonable, scientific discussion. The final danger comes when Les or whomever studies the subject of bigfoot but those they are involved with might be a fraud or a hoaxer. Is what they are doing helpful or harmful to the cause.? The answer seems to be its helpful until it becomes harmful. -

Thanks, CAT I'll give it a good deep dive when I get the chance. It's just frustrating because the concept of DNA is not as simple as other Bigfoot concepts.

South Dakota 1856 - The Arkansas Wild Man Heads North
Trogluddite posted a topic in More Historical Newspaper Archives
Admittedly, identification of this as a South Dakota encounter is tenuous. The story mentions Brant Lake and Sunflower Prairie as known locations. New York has a Brant Lake, but its in the Adirondacks, without any prairies. There is also a Brant Lake in southeast South Dakota, and while the terrain nearby is now farmed, it probably was largely prairie in the 1850s. The story was published in the Jackson (CA) Amador Ledger on June 14, 1856. -
They Were Running Straight at Me! - Bigfoot Eyewitness Episode 501

Tonight’s guest, Gene Brock, is a Sasquatch investigator who has a college degree in Anthropology and Archaeology. Gene chose to major in Anthropology and minor in Archaeology because of an experience he had, when he was a kid, involving two Sasquatch. You see, Gene was deer hunting, at the time, with his dad when the encounter happened. Some people would have been frightened out of the woods, for good, after experiencing what happened to Gene that day, but Gene still goes into the woods. A lot of the time, when he’s in the woods, he’s seeking out encounters with Sasquatch. Gene has a lot of interesting things to share. We hope you’ll tune into tonight’s show, so you can listen to him do that. What happens when you spot not just one Sasquatch—but two—climbing a muddy hillside in a thunderstorm, right in front of your truck? In this unforgettable episode, we meet a witness who recalls seeing a motherly Sasquatch with a smaller one by her side near Twin Bridges, Missouri. Lightning cracked through the Ozarks as the two figures disappeared into the woods, leaving behind only awe and questions. But that's just one of the encounters shared here. You'll also hear from Melissa in Southwest Virginia, who saw a Sasquatch tap on her second-story window; an outdoorsman in Texas who watched a creature ambush a deer; and a camper in Yosemite’s Tioga Pass who felt drawn back by something he couldn’t explain and MANY MORE ACCOUNTS! These stories span from the forests of Oregon and Appalachia to the riverbanks of Texas—and each one carries the same chilling thread: they saw something. And it saw them back. 🗣️ Share Your Story Had a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience? New York 1886 - Escaped Gorilla on Long Island - Tirademan!
Trogluddite replied to Trogluddite's topic in More Historical Newspaper Archives
Here's a slightly more fulsome account, published in the Atlanta (GA) Constitution on November 02, 1886. Shocking how there are no newspaper articles that were written when the gorilla escaped the museum to be found. -
Pennsylvania 1921 - Reporter Downplays Multiple Gorilla Sightings
Trogluddite posted a topic in More Historical Newspaper Archives
The Shippensburg (PA) Chronicle must have needed to fill space on January 13, 1921; the chose to do so by publishing a report downplaying and belittling all the gorilla reports that had come out over the past several months. By the way, the movie playing at The Victory was "The Mollycoddle" with Douglas Fairbanks. -

To rest your head, check out the eDNA work that has been carried out in Greenland by Danish researchers. They have eDNA older than 2 million years. The article is a good read , with pictures. PBS has a video production on same but I do not have a link. No human ancestors were harmed during the eDNA procedures because there were no sapiens in Greenland at those times. The article is open access = free. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-05453-y

Pennsylvania 1920 - Head West, Young Gorilla

The gorilla scare rolled west, leading to several encounters near Altoona and nearby towns. This article was published in the Altoona (PA) Tribune on December 21, 1920 and is among the stories recounted in Bigfoot in Pennsylvania by Timothy Renner. -

That’s their job. What if it’s Russian or Chinese? We control our airspace just as they do theirs. Pearl Harbor? 911? If you don’t shoot at this trespasser and it blows up the Pentagon? Your head is really gonna roll. -

A species that advanced? Isn’t going into the lion cage themselves. IMHO. We are probably dealing with either technological drones and or robots. Or biological drones operating technological craft. Just like the majority of an ant colony or a bee colony is operated by drones that don’t reproduce. They do all the scouting, defending, and heavy lifting. We probably get a free pass because we are on our own planet. If the alien civilization has conservation in mind. If not? Then our extinction event is probably in the not too distant future. And it probably didn’t matter if we shot at them or not. It’s like blaming a badger for defending its burrow. Silly. But If the burrow is in the middle of a free way project? The outcome won’t change. Maybe some of us will survive in their zoo. -

Either way, if they exist, government discourages discovery. If they don't exist, we have a problem with propaganda from non-government entities. Have you seen the radar video of a Predator drone shooting the orb with a Hellfire missile? it cut a few chunks off of the thing, but all the pieces just kept going as if in formation. Questions: * Why did they release that and other such videos? * Whose bright idea was it to shoot it down? * Now that they did try, and can see the result, who are they going to apologize to? (Ever punch a giant in the face only to see him smile back?) * Why not just go to Columbia and buy the Buga Sphere? -
