These are the key questions. Moreover, even if they're determined to be, say, an Australopithecine or similar, that's close enough, no? Would they qualify for basic human rights? Reports strongly indicate verbal language. It would be tough to class them as much less than Homo under such a situation.

This makes me wonder: How human-like would bigfoot have to be to be human as you describe? How animal-like would they have to be to be considered animal like by science or the public at large? To me, if bigfoot is essentially nearly Ape-like in intelligence and so on it would be an easy to think "It's an animal" Obviously if Bigfoot could communicate or have a language and very high intellect good luck selling the idea bigfoot is an animal. I just wonder how we define the traits for an animal and define the traits as a human. What's the line? To me anything equal to or less than an ape Bigfoot is an animal. But how far beyond that takes us to a human? I don't know the answer. We do science experiments on Rats because they are a lower animal and a pest among other reasons. ----------------------------------------- "Col. Hans Landa: Has a rat ever done anything to you to create this animosity you feel towards them?" ---------------------------------------------- We don't tend feel comfortable doing experiments on Chimps or Gorillas. When we do I assume it is more restrictive for apes as they are a higher animal. I think of the Helsinki Guidelines on human experimentation. We have a higher order of requirements to experiment on people/ humans scientifically. Rats don't get that same consideration. What makes an ape-like HUMAN? What makes an APE (or Bigfoot for that matter) NON-HUMAN? When does a ManApe stop becoming an Ape and start becoming a man?

A Scream Shattered the Window — And That Was Just the Beginning
BFFbot posted a topic in Bigfoot Society Podcast
Something keeps showing up in the same kinds of places — long after the stories fade and the people move on. In this episode of Bigfoot Society, voices from across the country share experiences that stayed with them for years before ever being spoken out loud. The locations vary, the details don’t always match, and yet certain patterns repeat in unsettling ways. You’ll hear about nights when the woods responded suddenly, properties where activity returned no matter what was done to stop it, and moments that changed how people moved through familiar land forever. Some of these accounts come from childhood memories. Others surfaced after a single night that never truly ended for the people involved. Taken together, they form a larger picture — one that only becomes clear when you hear every voice. If you pay attention, you’ll notice the connections. Listen closely. 🗣️ Share Your Story Had a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience? Michigan 1978 - Tracks Were Hoaxed Says Bigfoot Research Group
Trogluddite posted a topic in More Historical Newspaper Archives
A very short article published in The Bay City (MI) Times on March 14, 1978. I was considering consolidating this report with other 1978 hoaxes, but early Michigan researcher Wayne King deserves his spot in the archives. -
In the U.S., private lands produce the vast majority of timber, typically around 90% of the annual harvest, even though they own about 58% of the forest area; public lands (federal, state, local) supply the remaining 10-11%, with federal forests contributing a small fraction, around 6% of the total harvest. This dominance by private forests, especially family-owned forests, is crucial for the nation's domestic timber supply. But that doesn't matter so much if sasquatches are "discovered", especially if they're determined to be of the Homo taxonomic family. Their basic human rights would still be a major political reality that would need to be addressed. Indeed, such a reality would most certainly extend government power over private timberlands.

A big part of the federal government is the US Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management and both agencies manage timber production and having a new endangered species that lives in practically every forest of the United States could severely hamper timber production. Timber management within these agencies most likely know all about Bigfoot but they will not help prove their existence because we all remember what the Spotted Owl did to Timber production. Spotted Owls lived in certain and specific Northwest forest environments and they were not widespread throughout all the forest such as Bigfoot. Can someone find out what part of the GNP or gross national product is timber production?

Some encounters don’t stay in the woods — they follow you inward. In this episode of Bigfoot Society, Stephanie, a South Carolina experiencer shares a lifetime of unexplained events that span forests, campsites, and altered states of consciousness. From a terrifying childhood tent encounter near Seneca Lake to strange disturbances at a remote Ocala National Forest campsite, these experiences unfold alongside years of meditation, intuition, and moments where communication didn’t come through words at all. Stephanie describes how deep meditation and heightened awareness seemed to open doors she never intended to unlock — moments where the forest went silent, messages arrived without sound, and the line between physical encounters and something far stranger began to blur. This is a serious, firsthand account that explores why certain people seem to experience Bigfoot differently, how intention and consciousness may play a role, and why some encounters happen long before a witness even knows what Sasquatch is. If you’ve ever wondered whether Bigfoot encounters are only physical — or something more — this episode may change how you listen. I realize that I am a true trogluddite, but with statements like the following, I have to wonder if scientists are as smart as they think they are ... from page 2, "If there is no spread of adaptation from one cone type to another, one would predict a lack of spatial spread of adaptation." Sounds like NS2 to me, but maybe someone here is much smarter than I am and can make sense of this paper and whether it offers value to Bigfooters. PrmateConeVision.pdf

1969 - Magazine Article - Reader's Digest Mentions the P-G Film
Trogluddite posted a topic in Patterson-Gimlin Film Reference Materials
The January 1969 edition of Reader's Digest condensed an article entitled Does an "Abominable Snowman" Lurk in the Rockies? written by James B. Shuman for West Magazine. This article includes a lot of historical information which is likely known to Forums members and was not focused on the Patterson-Gimlin Film or that encounter. It offers limited information on the P-G film, likely taken by the original author from other magazines and newspaper articles. I have requested a reprint from Reader's Digest, but have not received it to date. Therefore, I'll use the following extract from Bobbi Short's (RIP) Bigfoot Encounters website at http://www.bigfootencounters.com/, which includes what appears to be a full copy of the article under the Newspaper and Magazine Articles tab. "Perhaps the most intriguing evidence is a 16-mm color movie made in 1967 by Roger Patterson, a 34-year-old Yakima, Washington rancher. Long interested in Sasquatch-Bigfoot, Patterson had become convinced that the only w, ay to prove its existence was to get clear photographs. In October 1967, he heard of fresh tracks along Bluff Creek in northern California. Patterson and Bob Gimlin, an experienced animal tracker, set out to investigate. They scouted the area on horseback for a week and a half. Early in the afternoon of October 20, they came to a bend in the creek where a gigantic stump, overturned by a flood, obscured the view ahead. Patterson's horse stopped and snorted, then reared and fell on its side. Moments later, Patterson saw what had startled his mount. "This creature was on my left, about ~ 95 feet across the creek," he recalls. "Its head was very human, though considerably more slanted, and with a large forehead and wide nostrils. Its arms hung almost to its knees when it walked. Its hair was two to four inches long, brown underneath, lighter at the top, and covering the entire body except for the face. And it was a female; it had big, pendulous breasts." Patterson reached into his saddlebag and grabbed his movie camera. The creature, meanwhile, was walking across a sandbar toward the hillside. Patterson began trotting after it, shooting pictures. At one point, the creature turned and stared curiously at the camera. Then it went into the woods and out of sight. Gimlin began to give chase, but Patterson, who had used up all his film, told him to stop. "I didn't want to be there alone, without a weapon," he says." - Last week
