    Bigfoot myth or monster?

So, that would be like a ghost, right? Although many people (I would venture to say 'most') do not believe in ghosts, I have reasons to believe. The word 'belief' has been shunned here, particularly in the past, but I don't really know what other word to use. And, if Bigfoot are ghosts or, 'spiritual entities', that sure would explain a lot. If we take the premise (or 'assumption') that there are things out there which closely and fairly consistently adhere to descriptions of Bigfoot(s), then we can list several apparent characteristics which would fall into place with the hypothesis that they may be spiritual entities (or, 'ghosts'): 1.) That would explain the difficulty (impossibility?) of Scientific classification of them into the Animal Kingdom. 2.) That might explain their unprecedented elusiveness and even reports that they seem to vanish into thin air. 3.) That would probably explain the difficulty in determining what their diet is (if they don't have a diet). 4.) That would certainly explain why Bigfoot remains don't seem to exist. 5.) And, among other things, that would correspond to reported 'lights' and 'luminescence' in areas where they are spotted. Many folks will disagree that this could even be a possibility but 'given', the two premises that seem unavoidable to me: 1.) things are out there which are being described as Bigfoot, and 2.) there must be some explanation for that (eventually); the spiritual entity explanation seems, at least for now, possible. ^ good point Huntster. (I was working on the above when you posted.) But, the feral human explanation would leave most of the 'High Strangeness' still unexplained. And, could feral Homo Sapiens really have evolved that quickly into Bigfoot?

    Bigfoot myth or monster?

Many of these native stories describe these wild people as humans who went wild for various reasons. Of course, we already know that feral people are a thing. It's a proven fact. Zana has now been proven to have been a feral human, and of extremely unlikely form (African in Central Asia, extremely tall for a female, hirsute, and extremely strong. Thus, in addition to misidentifications and manufactured sightings, a percentage of evidence is that of feral Homo sapiens.

    Bigfoot myth or monster?

There is the possibility of it being just a spiritual entity from Native Americans teachings. Then of course the possibility of being a living relic that survives in the here and now. One of our distant ancestors. Therefore not monster or mythical.

  12. During a solo elk hunt in the mountains of Eastern Oregon, Mark Parker began hearing the same unfamiliar grunting sound at approximately 9:30 every morning. Days later, a brown face appeared from behind a tree and watched him from only 35 to 40 yards away. That encounter led Mark into years of investigation with Darrell Adams near Cottage Grove and the mysterious Owl Moon Lab. He describes enormous tracks, rocks thrown from the timber, food disappearing between trail-camera photographs, unexplained lights, and a massive figure crossing a forest trail after dark. Mark also shares the deeply unsettling experience that occurred when he returned to Eastern Oregon, slept beneath the open sky, and asked whatever was nearby to give him a sign. Bigfoot myth or monster?

That is an interesting idea. Misunderstood in what way(s)? Care to elaborate?
  14. Partly because of the major complications that would come with having to designate the species as Endangered, which would mean having to seal off large swaths of land for their protection. And when they realize all the areas they live in, then imagine the politics of it all. And which federal agency would be in charge of ownership or managing the species? Look at what transpired after they found the carcass of 'Kennewick Man'. Even the Army Corps of Engineers got involved and wouldn't cooperate with the public, the state, or other federal agencies. It was a disaster. Now take that example and multiply it by 10,000 with a newly discovered and recognized primate all over North America. Seriously though, read the story of what happened with 'Kennewick Man'. It's a good starter for all things federal dysfunction. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/kennewick-man-finally-freed-share-his-secrets-180952462/ I have changed my mind and no longer want the US federal government to recognize or manage the species. What an awful mess that would be. Just leave it alone.

Perhaps it's neither myth nor monster. Maybe just misunderstood.

  19. The Fed's view of Bigfoot is a lot like my view of my neighbor's tree. Until it falls on my roof, I don't consider it or think about it. To the extent they might have concerns AFTER the fact I don't see one overriding government concern. You mention various considerations which might come into play. But they are not going to come into play until they need to come into play. Look at what our government did on a known creature: The Condor. At no time did all lumbar industry shut down because of the condor. Obviously when they knew the condor numbers were going down, they took many actions. The Bald Eagle was in trouble. That known animal was on the endangered list. Then, the government took many actions. Today the bald eagle is pretty common thankfully. At no time did they limit or stop fishing, tree cutting, and so on. They did have big time fines and possible jail time for killing a bald eagle. I am not saying they didn't have any restrictions. But the whole world didn't stop. We can see what the government would concern itself with and how it would base on some real-world examples. I really doubt the government knows bigfoot is real. Just like the condor, bald eagle or any other example I admit the government would take SOME action. I just doubt the logging industry and others would suddenly come to an end. Sure, a more dangerous animal might increase limitations of what the public could and couldn't do. i have to think even with bears, people are able to still go into the woods.

    Cerutti Mastodon Site

Regarding the Cerruti site mastadon bones purportedly dated to 130,000 years ago .. mainstream science has the ability to determine whether the scratches / notches in the bone were made 130K years ago when the bone was fresh vs recently when they were being dug up. This is the study of taphonomy. Those markings / scraping / etc are NOT recent effects of the earth moving machinery, those markings were made while the bones were still fresh. That does not settle the question of who / what did them but it does settle the question of when the markings were made. Maybe, or maybe lacking technology, they saw solutions that our reliance on technology trips over?

    Cerutti Mastodon Site

It seems pretty clear to me that the genetic evidence found in populations in the Amazon basin indicate the route to the populating of the Americas was both through Beringia and by seafaring Pacific Islanders who most likely made landfall on the western coast a long time before them. There is no reason to believe it had to be one or the other. Really, there may have been even more migrations we only speculate about now. This idea that a whole continent of land and resources was just laying open and unexploited until only 13k years ago is a quaint one. Anatomically modern humans at least 200,000 years ago were probably exploring the planet by any means available, and they had technologies we don’t give them credit for. We look at the vastness of the Pacific and we can’t wrap our head around people being able to make those jumps over the vast distances required. People do surprising and amazing things and we don’t give them the same credit we give ourselves.

  27. The Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management rule over federal forest lands with a primary goal of providing lumber for the nation's building industry and for sustaining a large work force. They have hired top wildlife biologist, yet bigfoot remains a mythical creature. They also know that if bigfoot becomes a scientifically proven primate species, large areas of present and future timber production will probably be shut down in the same manner as what happened with the Spotted Owl but at a much larger scale. Is there a reasonable solution for this potential problem or should there be no effort to prove bigfoot as a new species?

    Bigfoot myth or monster?

I believe 90%-95%+ of the Bigfoot eyewitness reports are seeing something real with only about 1-5% being outright liars and hoaxers. What I struggle with is not being sure what they saw. Is it a bear? Is it some other misidentification? That part of my brain I will call the BAD COP Then the GOOD COP part of my brain tells me, "Do you really think ALL of these people- every single one is wrong? Are they all mistaken?!" The GOOD COP part of me understands there only needs to be one of these reports to be real for Bigfoot to be real. Just one single report. For those who have had an encounter please forgive my struggle between the GOOD COP and BAD COP. I have never had such an encounter and honestly would never want to until Bigfoot in the public is a well-establish universal fact.
