  5. It is clear that the "true" Jersey Devil Story has little relationship to hairy hominid sightings. However, it is instructive to note that there were "wild man" sightings in New Jersey before and after this outburst of sightings (or bad whiskey or imaginative story telling) that are wholly separate. This article was published in The Morning Call of Paterson (NJ) on January 22, 1909.
  6. In this episode, we delve into the extraordinary experiences of David, a Navy veteran and lifelong outdoorsman whose encounters span from the high elevations of Colorado to a secluded property in the foothills of the Catskills in upstate New York. During a late-summer backpacking trip near the Maroon Bells and Snowmass Lake, David describes coming face to face with towering glowing eyes in the darkness, followed by a night filled with deliberate wood knocks, strange vocalizations, and massive footprints pressed deep into mountain soil. Years later, after purchasing a remote cabin surrounded by dense forest and protected land, the activity begins again. What starts as distant knocking and whoops gradually moves closer to the house, bringing unexplained odors, enormous tracks in deep snow with an impossible stride, violent pounding on a nearby structure, and a daylight sighting that leaves no room for doubt. As the months unfold, the experiences build in intensity, culminating in a moment that still echoes in David’s memory. David shares his story with clarity and composure, offering detailed observations shaped by a lifetime spent outdoors. His account paints a compelling picture of activity across two very different regions of the country, raising questions about movement, territory, and long-term presence. Join us as we explore David’s gripping journey and the unsettling patterns that followed him from the Rockies to the mountains of New York. 🗣️ Share Your Story Had a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience? All of the above mentioned have merit, I'll include an unrepresented channel, Driftless. I like his approach, he asks the right questions and has come up with some good strategies giving impressive results, IMO.

I stumbled upon this article while looking for something else. This part of New York could be good Bigfoot habitat even now and would have been more open in the late 1800s. While the individual captured was clearly a human, his capture does not explain prior reports of wild creatures covered with hair. There is a BFRO report from Ulster county in 1980s near Cragsmoor, which is near the Shawangunk Ridge.

  16. Tonight’s guest, Nick Purswell, grew up in a small town in Eastern Oregon, but he recently moved to Bozeman, Montana for school as well as the hunting and fishing opportunities. The main reason why he moved to Bozeman revolved around Nick’s desire to spend as much time in the outdoors as possible. Last year, Nick met ranchers who own a ranch about an hour from Great Falls, Montana. They offered him a job on their ranch and told him he was free to hunt on their land too. Fast forward to November 11th, of last year. Nick was elk hunting about 45 minutes Southeast of Great Falls. At the time, Nick was sitting up on a rock bluff, looking for a huge bull, when all of a sudden the “bear” turned in Nick’s direction… If you've had at least one Sasquatch sighting and would like to be a guest on the show, please go to BigfootEyewitness.com and let me know. 17. In this episode, we sit down with Aleks Petakov of Small Town Monsters to explore years of boots-on-the-ground Bigfoot investigations stretching from the remote coastline of Alaska to the dense forests of Kentucky and beyond. Aleks shares what it is really like to spend extended time in isolated wilderness where help is miles away and unusual activity unfolds long after midnight. On Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula, Aleks recounts late-night wood knocks cutting through the rainforest, rocks striking shoreline waters in the early morning hours, and heavy stomping sounds moving near camp. He describes the discovery of a primate-like handprint on a remote cabin, large impressions pressed deep into moss, and a strange rock-scraping sound heard from across a creek that has never been fully explained. The conversation moves to a cold November night in Kentucky, where a distinct wood knock was followed by a large thermal heat signature on a hillside that disappeared within minutes. Aleks reflects on the challenge of documenting fleeting moments like these, the weight of credible eyewitness testimony, and what long-term fieldwork teaches you about patience, risk, and uncertainty. We also discuss his upcoming Journey to Ape Island project on Vancouver Island, an area layered with Indigenous history, generations of Sasquatch lore, and some of the most rugged terrain in North America. Join us for a grounded, field-driven conversation that brings you into the reality of modern Bigfoot investigation and leaves you thinking long after the episode ends. 20. Hezekiah Barker, a long-time trapper in Michigan and Wisconsin, recounted several of his adventures to a reporter for the Green Bay (WI) Press-Gazette, which published a story about him on January 19, 1896. If a less-than reputable Bigfoot "researcher" wanted to create an old Bigfoot story that few people would bother researching, they would show everyone the first part of this story without including the second. Not every wild man in the 1800s was a Bigfoot.
  21. The State of Washington began a project in 1936 to preserve stories of its early pioneers; it did this by visiting elderly persons receiving old age assistance through the State Department of Public Welfare. These stories were collated into a three volume set entitled As Told by the Pioneers and one of the stories was included in The Bigfoot Casebook Updated by Janet and Colin Bord. Rocque Ducheney was the son of a Lord Mayor of Montreal who lived between 1819 and 1861. He was sent west to learn the business of the Hudson Bay Company and eventually given a post at the yillage of Chinook. His granddaughter was interviewed for Told by the Pioneers. She related her family history and some Indian legends. Her last comment was thus: Those interested in Washington state history can find an online collection at https://www.sos.wa.gov/library/research-collections/classics-washington-history.
  22. In this episode, we delve into the extraordinary experiences of Mike, whose encounters span from the rugged wildfire zones of Southern Oregon to the wooded creek lines of Southern Maine. Growing up near one of the most well-known Bigfoot locations in the Pacific Northwest, Mike never gave the subject much thought—until a grueling 2011 fire season placed him deep in remote wilderness where he discovered a series of massive barefoot tracks pressed into thick redwood duff, miles from the nearest structure. Years later, after relocating across the country, activity began unfolding behind his own home in Maine. What started as subtle disturbances soon escalated into whistling from the treeline, objects striking the house with force, unexplained silence in the surrounding woods, and an encounter involving glowing eyes that left a lasting impact. Multiple witnesses were present during key events, adding weight to what was experienced. Mike’s background as a hunter and wildland firefighter gives his account a grounded, practical perspective shaped by years spent in unforgiving terrain. From firelines in the Emerald Triangle to quiet New England backyards, this episode explores how encounters can follow patterns across geography, terrain, and time. Join us as we navigate Mike’s compelling journey and examine the presence that revealed itself in some of the most unexpected places. 🗣️ Share Your Story Had a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience? One of the questions regarding the PGF is how was it that Patty could leave a deeper impression in the sandbar than Roger's and Bob's horses. There was well-known poster here on BFF who did an experiment on a sandy beach and posted his results (and video or pictures I think). It turned out that his foot impression was deeper than a horse whose rider had it walk near his tracks. I was flummoxed how a heavy horse on small hooves would not be deeper that a much lighter person with larger feet. The moral of that story is that the mechanics of a foot's movement are far more important than the weight of the person/animal making the impression. I wish I could remember the BBF poster's name but cannot. It was a while ago.
