Hi All. I'm from the UK and have been interested in the Bigfoot world since I saw a documentary named Bigfoot Monster Mystery back in 1997. I've been facinated since and have always been interested in finding out more

Included in Bigfoot in New York and New England by Paul and Robert Bartholomew. SSRID: 7855. Identified as a Tirademan Article and I likely got this newspaper clipping from somewhere on the Forums, but I can't tell exactly where. Based on a bad reading of the article, I originally listed this in the Vermont Sightings thread. A quick check today on Google Earth locates all the landmarks mentioned in the article as being in northwest Massachusetts.

From the Bucksport (Maine) Clipper, reporting a story that was in a Waterville (Maine) newspaper. Google Earth puts "100 miles north of Moosehead Lake" near the border. It should be no problem for a group to go out and find the body! (sarcasm alert)

^^^ I appreciate the various perspectives here. This Alien thing is about the numbers: Let's say EARTH is the Goldfish. If the life wanted to get here or accidently got here it would have to have the means and luck to get here: ET. "Hey, there is only 1. That is easy to find" If there are these large numbers of life out there, all of those planets are competing for attention. ET "Look at all those planets. Interesting. Where do we start?" Here is a 1 in 50 chance they even find earth. Now let's make the ocean bigger. ET "Wow, you expect me to find a single goldfish called Earth in that vast ocean?" There comes a point where numbers just make it hard to accept. Then again, some say, an "infinite number of typewriters and an infinite number of monkeys eventually types the works of Shakespeare".

Given that neither large size, large tracks, nor lots of hair is mentioned, this may indeed be an escaped lunatic. Reported in the York (PA) Democratic Press, so one has to wonder how they got their information. That being said, the article appears between a report that inmates at Sing Sing prison in New York were going to begin manufacturing silk and an ad by a local ice cream maker advising that he was up and running again.

As reported in the Pennsylvania Gazette of Philadelphia. Remember, "f" = "s"!

There are numerous reports of an "escaped gorilla" rampaging throughout Pennsylvania, traveling generally from east to west, in 1920. This summary from The Progress, in Clearfield, PA., lists a few of the reports, albeit without much detail. I will be working on something else to tell this story, so this will be the only post on this topic for now. The 1920 Pennsylvania escaped gorilla caper is covered in Bigfoot in Pennsylvania by Timothy Renner and this particular newspaper article made it into the BFRO database as Report #14358. I believe that its under Clearfield County.

Nicktown is a small town in Cambria County, PA. This report is from a nearby newspaper in Indiana County. Mahaffey (misspelled in the article) is in Clearfield County. Note how the merits of the reported encounters - height, track size, description - are ignored and explained away because the witnesses are drunkards or in training to be lying politicians. Adding this newspaper article as it contains additional information. Note that while the byline in the above article is Montreal, the events in question occurred in Harrison Mills, British Columbia. I did not see any of these particular incidents in John Green's database, although I made only a hasty search.

^^^ Not a radio-astronomer, but I read somewhere recently that radio and television waves degrade significantly with distance. At one light-year, they're 1/2 strength, at 2 light years, 1/4 strength, and so forth to the point where at any likely distance that there is other intelligent life, our TV and radio signals are indistinguishable from background noises. Thus, it is unlikely that the Thermians are watching reruns of Gilligan's Island and thinking that it's Earth's cultural history. Even if a species were flying by in an advanced spacecraft, would they bother to stop? On a hike, do we stop at every anthill and try to communicate? Unfortunately, I think its far more likely that they would strip mine the planet or demolish it to make way for an intergalactic on-ramp (and no, I didn't find that book particularly funny).

Even if life abounds throughout the universe. It would still be the rarest of resources. Our pale blue dot, while visually inseparable from millions of other pale blue dots is emitting radio waves like a minor Pulsar. We would stand out like a sore thumb to some alien radio telescope. I would hope that the aliens , observing us through that radio telescope . Given that they possessed the means of interstellar flight would come here in the interest of discovery, science and the welcoming hand of peace and brotherhood of fellow living creatures. Or they would eat us.

Everyone has heard of the Fouke Monster (I think). Tirademan had some articles; these supplement those. The Northwest Arkansas Times reported that official searches were ongoing in June, 1971. The story was taken as seriously as a youth drowning in the Saline River. The Hope (AR) Star reported a large reward being offered for capture of the Fouke monster in 1971 And The Sun, a Jonesboro (AR) newspaper reported on a hoax and that "monster hunters" were trespassing and destroying farmers' crops.

Published in Poulson's American Daily Advertiser, a Philadelphia newspaper. My best estimate is that this event occurred north or west of Lake of the Woods, Ontario or Minnesota, rather than the lake of that name in Oregon (I believe). This one has all the hallmarks of being a Bigfoot or Sasquatch. Remember, in early printing what looks like an "f" is really an "s."
