In this preview episode, you’ll hear a glimpse into several encounters shared inside an episdoe just for the Bigfoot Society Members community. A woman from the Hudson Valley in New York describes how her curiosity about strange tree structures and unusual signs in the woods led to a series of unsettling discoveries. What began as a winter outing to investigate possible activity soon turned into something far more personal as strange sounds, unexplained footprints, and a photograph taken in the woods revealed that something large had been nearby. Over time the activity followed her closer to home. Published in the Martinez (CA) News-Gazette on October 1, 1870, skeptics apparently pounced quickly on this report. That led to a lengthy letter to the editor revealing an earlier encounter, which is available at https://bigfootforums.com/topic/123404-california-1870-an-old-hunters-story-roguefooter/. NOTE: After setting this post up, I found a more fulsome account in the Merced (CA) Sun-Star; although it was not published until October 15, 1870, it appears to be republishing something printed in a third paper. While that paper is included in Newspapers.com, there are limited editions from 1870, so the original article is unavailable.

Published in The Wilkes-Barre (PA) Advocate on October 16, 1839 as well as least one other paper included in Bigfoot in Pennsylvania by Timothy Renner. Admittedly, a very thin article on which to include that it involves a Bigfoot rather than a lunatic or criminal.

Published in the Vancouver (BC) Daily World on July 30, 1906. The line about what the wild man was wearing is almost as good as the New York Post's "Headless body found in Topless bar" line. Note that this is either the third distinct "Mowgli" seen in islands off of Vancouver or a sighting of the 1905 wild man over a year later.

Here's a bonus encounter from Texas to celebrate (unless you're in Mexico) the 190th anniversary of the Republic of Texas. This first story is from the Junction City (KS) Daily Union on June 1, 1887. Unfortunately, the more fulsome description given earlier by the San Antonio (TX) Daily Express on May 17, 1887, tells a different story.
