Yeah, don't get used to that from me... Healthy skepticism is warranted and needed in this field or else people will be thinking that we'd all buy that bridge in Brooklyn they want to sell us.
  3. What happens when a pastor from Oregon spends decades chasing Sasquatch through the Blue Mountains, Highway 12, and beyond — and keeps running into the unexplained? In this gripping episode of Bigfoot Society, we sit down with Kevin, a lifelong Bigfoot researcher whose journey began as a child in Puyallup, Washington, listening to “samurai chatter” with his father. Kevin’s story spans the infamous Puyallup Screams, late-night encounters near Packwood, gifting exchanges at Deduct Springs, and even the moment a patrolman accidentally urinated on a Sasquatch — only to be met with a roar that shook the night. From flipping logs in search of beetles, to roadside stand-offs on Highway 12, to deep mysteries in the Indian Heaven Wilderness, Kevin shares accounts that will leave you questioning what walks our forests after dark. More than just tales of terror, this episode reveals how the search for Bigfoot has shaped a lifetime of faith, research, and family connection. If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like when the woods wake up around you — this is the episode you can’t miss. 🗣️ Share Your Story Had a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience? 4. Published in the Spokane (WA) Spokesman-Review on February 26, 1969, this article includes comments by Roger Patterson. It is unclear whether they were made to an audience during a presentation or were in response to specific questions posed by the reporter. Nothing jumps out as being remarkable apart from him describing Bob Gimlin as his friend, which was a sentiment that Bob Gimlin did not appear to share at this time.

  7. "Sightings of rock apes by Viet Cong and NVA troops were also common enough that an NVA general, General Hoang Minh Tha, organized an expedition in 1974 to try to capture or at least kill one of these legendary creatures. The expedition was unsuccessful, though, and no hard evidence for the existence of the rock apes was found." "Another expedition organized by Professor Vo Quy of the Vietnam National University was similarly unsuccessful. However, strange human-like (but not human) footprints were found in the jungle in 1970 by Professor Tran Hong Viet of Hanoi’s Pedagogic University. He made casts of the footprints, but found no further evidence of the rock apes’ existence," Rock Apes: How Vietnam's 'Rock Apes' Confounded American GIs. In the posted article, the author said rock apes get up to 6' tall and they throw rocks at people like bigfoot does. At least some prominent individuals in Vietnam such as General Tha and two professors Hong Vet and Vo Quy have launched searches for Rock Apes. We don't have generals or many professors looking to document bigfoot due to the stigma generally held by Americans. The Forest Service has hired quite a few PHD biologist and we don't hear from them in regards to bigfoot. The Forest Service call bigfoot a mythical primate so their biologist are sitting on evidence because the higher ups refuse to recognize bigfoots. Why are we so different from Vietnam? Is the Forest Service threatening their biologist to stay quiet on bigfoot? Why would they quelch bigfoot searches and hide knowledge from the public?

I meant to say thank you also for going to the trouble of finding and attaching the clippings. Sources are immensely important and people who are willing to engage cogently with rational, well thought out ideas are the reason I joined (and the reason i believe- (tip of the hat to bill munns))

Thank you for the reply. I’m aware of the footprints, Bill Martin saying they were the wrong size (but who else would they be) etc. I’ve been through old newspaper clippings because you can’t believe anything anyone says on the internet and as close to original source is as good as anyone can get. My interest right now is purely where the “hairy bipedal carrying a red cloth/bag along a ridge” came into the story. It seems that it’s a Paulides fabrication but I want to give his own words a chance before I dismiss him completely

Not from the book, but here is substantially the same thing is noted at https://vanished.us/cases/dennis-martin-vanished-great-smokey-mountains/. This page mentions footprints that were found as if it was mysterious. One of the Kingsport Times articles published during the search stated that tracks were found of a person with one shoe off and one shoe on. While they don't mention size (or I missed it in skimming the article), they tried to use tracking dogs on that section. Presumably, because they thought that the tracks were from Dennis. Here's the earliest report available, which was almost a month after the disappearance. The second article mentions the car that was nearby, partially hidden off the road. I don't want to say absolutely nothing Bigfoot-related to see here, but I would be at about 93% or greater that this was a tragic accident or unfortunate encounter with a hungry animal.

Any chance anyone with the books could provide a quote of the “hairy man, seen carrying a red thing on his back” part of the book? The books aren’t really available here. Doesn’t seem legit to me but want to see his own words before coming to a firm conclusion. In particular, I’m interested to know, did the info come from Bill Martin, citing Harold Key some 40 years or more after the incident?
  13. I’d have to say that for me a body on a slab is necessary to consider somebody “knowing”. Photos, anecdotal evidence, thermals etc may be enough for belief. But a belief, however strongly held is not “knowing”. Knowing, to me includes a level of certainty that can only come with a body and its examination. If the gov’t or some part of it doesn’t have a body, then I don’t think it reasonable to expect anyone of any authority to stick their neck out further than the scientific community is willing to, and to actually acknowledge a BF. Anything short of a body can be explained with the possibility of misidentification, guy in a suit etc. and could lead to massive embarrassment for the gov’t if shown to be such. Of course, the opportunity to dismiss in that way probably suits the gov’t and its employees fine in the CYA or cover up scenarios you guys mentioned

  16. ^^^ I just bumped up a historical newspaper article on the Rock Ape from a later publishing date to a few minutes from now, so those not familiar with it can see about it. Unfortunately, I don't have any info on Rockape.
  17. Also, in Southeast Asia, a smaller form is referred to as a "Rock Ape" which is not to be confused with forum member Rockape. Anyone have info on Rockape? He has not been on this forum in over 2 years.
  18. What happens when a Florida hunter stumbles onto more than just deer in the palmettos? In this gripping and emotional episode, we sit down with Stephen, a traditional bow maker whose life was forever changed one Thanksgiving morning in 1995. Deep inside Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area, Stephen and his hunting partner came face to face with not one — but two Sasquatch, including a massive black female clutching what may have been a baby or a pregnancy. Stephen recounts eerie moments from the swamps — snapped oak branches, thunderous bipedal chases, and the unforgettable sight of a bow-legged creature fleeing into the palmettos. We also trace his early childhood encounter in Massachusetts, the footprint discovery in Indiana, and the anxiety that followed these life-altering experiences. From Island Pond to Johnson Slough, this episode digs into what it means to be a knower — and why one family of swamp apes left a hunter forever changed. More than just a sighting, this story raises questions about fear, belief, and the truths hiding in our forests. 🗣️ Share Your Story Had a Bigfoot encounter or strange experience?
