  2. Actually, that's a misconception that a lot of people make. Absence of evidence is evidence of absence where the evidence should be there. An example of this is medical tests. If someone thinks that they have a disease or infection, then there should be evidence of it. But if the test results shows that there's no signs of the disease or infection, then they don't have the disease or infection.
  3. What were the strange, hair-covered "whistlers" encountered by ancient Chinese woodsmen? What about the eerie, chest-beating "monsters" described in the legends of Indigenous Americans? And what can be made of strange tales of "wild men" encountered in various parts of the world throughout the Middle Ages? Could these early accounts actually represent records of historical hominoids that have been recorded throughout time? If Sasquatch exists in the modern world, then these enigmatic relict hominoids must have also existed alongside humankind since the dawn of modern homo sapiens. If so, where are the historical accounts that describe such creatures? A sticking point for many skeptics, the presumed absence of humanlike creatures in the historic record has become a point often used in arguments to demonstrate that no such creatures exist. In this episode of Sasquatch Tracks, the team takes a deep dive into observations of "historical hominoids" with a look at ancient accounts of what may be relict hominoids from around the world. From early times to the present, the team offers a fascinating exploration of the history behind this enduring mystery. Follow Sasquatch Tracks on Twitter. Got a news tip or story to share? 4. pretty sure Norse is on board with the government knowing. not just individuals.
  5. Actually you're using confirmation bias for the things you find . I won't call it evidence . Has anyone ever seen Bigfoot building a structure ? No but look at your posts ....Has to be a bigfoot in your other posts of the stick structures you found. N ...That's confirmation bias The structures that you have been told that kids and people build them ...a lot in the woods . Hell I passed one today while hiking with the dog in the woods. There's tons of people who will go out and practice bushcraft . When ever someone points something out you dismiss it and fall back to I know it's the forest people doing this. You are not doing this subject any good by always thinking everything is a bigfoot or what you like to call forest people but you can't see that .
  6. I was looking for an expert in bird sounds, not a critique of my experiences. You claim bigfoot lives in clans, have you ever seen a clan? Has anyone on this site ever seen a clan? Pure conjecture. You also claim that bigfoot are migratory. Did you install ankle bracelets on them to figure this out? I have personal experience that says they stay put in the winter, only closer to their inner sanctum. I don't have confirmation bias, because I let the evidence speak for itself, and I ask others for their opinions. I don't just parrot what the rest of the so-called experts say, because actual factual evidence is rare, and too many assumptions are being made about it.

    My new book!

Just trying to give this thread a bump so newer members and interested members see more about this book; really, its petty larceny to get this book for only $20.
  8. I agree with this POV. I certainly believe Bigfoot is real, but is incredibly rare. I would say 90%+ of sightings are deliberate hoaxes or misidentifications. Most sounds in the woods can be explained by something else. And should be approached skeptically and assumed to be something else unless all other potential answers are eliminated.
  9. Okay I guess there's probably a Bigfoot clan living in my back yard then . Don't become one of those where everything you see and hear is a Bigfoot . You can't research this subject with confirmation bias because it never works and you see plenty of yahoos on Bigfoot youtube channels thinking every noise and tree break is bigfoot That's all I'm saying man.

    Thinker Thunker does some measurement

Absolutely. I find it incredible people look at his skeletal overlay and think it’s accurate. The pelvis is WAY too low. We can see Patty’s butt crack. That’s a huge visual clue as to where the pelvis should be located. it’s a bit strange his entire PDNA theory is based on 1 single frame of Patty. Surely you’d repeat it over multiple frames to reinforce your idea. Or even create an animation so you can make sure the limb/joint placements work with natural looking movement.

I have an older Garmin Inreach. The device itself is archaic. It’s like a late 90s cell phone. Takes forever to type anything. But when Bluetooth to my cell phone. It will send a txt message in a decent time frame. Just have to have a clear view of the sky.

What scientific campaigns are we missing?

We have Darby and NCSU doing their DNA study currently. I don’t believe the topic has become untouchable. But I certainly am interested in fundraising for other series academic endeavors. Outside of vocalizations or infrasonic studies, I’m not sure what avenues to pursue.

    My new book!

Yeah, never got that jacket blurb or cost estimate as requested so I went ahead and bought a copy blind. Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wowzy, wow, wow. This is about 240 pages of stuff crammed into 130 pages. It's like a behind the scenes documentary into the original research done on the P-G film combined with a reference book on all the aspects of the P-G film (location maps, film & camera background, key personalities, and events), and a sweet chocolate sundae with a cherry on top. Really hate to do this to everyone who hasn't bought a copy yet, but this book would be worth it at $35 or $40 a copy. Well done, very professionally set up, and a nice addition to any Bigfoot library except possibly a few of the old hands on here who have already forgotten about Bigfoot than I'll ever know. Bravo.* * Don't know DP from Adam and am not related to, employed by, or in any other way beholden to him. He just really knocked my socks off with this book.
  14. Thanks for you opinion. but absence of evidence, is not evidence of absence.

    Field trips 2.0

Question from an amateur - any recommendation for the better satellite emergency communicator, Garmin or Spot or "other"? My wife and I are planning our first hiking trip where I'm concerned about being out of cell service and needing comms in an emergency. (NOTE: This isn't the first trip where I should have had one of these things; it's just the first trip where I'm being a little less dumber than normal.) The two main brands on REI are Garmin and Spot; there seems to be the same options as to range, cost of subscription, etc. Just wondering has practical advice based on usage. As always, much obliged for any thoughts on the matter.
  16. Felix if you not finding any tracks they are not there no matter how much you want to believe Bigfoot are in that area .. It's just not possible for them to be foraging and hunting in an area and not leave any tracks .

What scientific campaigns are we missing?

There's decades of a research that supports [certain] witness reports as credible evidence (not as proof, but still) and discredits debunker arguments against these witnesses - research on eye witness testimony, memory, deception, ecology (wildlife monitory/conservation biology), group norms (in sociology). On DNA, I gotta feel bad for Brian Sykes and his DNA study several years ago. Here's a respected academic who approached the topic with an open mind and his colleagues basically labeled him a quack for doing so. The fallout of course is that other academics likely won't touch the topic now, unless they come at it as patronizing debunkers. And if academics don't do the DNA study, the academic community won't take the study seriously, which means media won't take it seriously. That's my opinion, anyway.
  18. Honestly just can't tell because it could be anything . The only thing that would convince me there are Bigfoot in MA is you finding some tracks in that area . You seem to be having a lot and I mean a lot of activity in a small concentrated area . We have been having a lot of rain and it would be impossible for a clan to not leave track ways if they are there .
  19. No storm or high winds, I believe this is them, but maybe a bird?

  23. 100% this. People know, for sure. The entity itself likely doesn’t care.
  24. I don't think you are agreeing. Those are different statements. "Someone in government knowing" is different than government as a whole knowing. I'm fairly confident of both the truth of the first and the falsehood of the second. MIB

    Thinker Thunker does some measurement

I like what ThinkThunker does with AV analysis. I recently reviewed the Minnesota Iceman case for a substack post and noticed John Napier -- back in early 1970s -- referenced the "intermembral index" which he defined as the "relative proportions of the upper limb and lower limb" as a percentage. ThinkThunker has his own spin on this with his pDNA, but certainly the general approach has been around for a long time, at least in Napier's area -- he was a primate biologist.
