Who knows, I suppose that's possible, but I don't see any ammo for that at our local Walmart. I guess if one is squirrel hunting in the lower 48, a 77mm might do the trick. Thank-you for sharing that, Huntster. 9mm, full metal jacket perhaps better in that type of situation than my 357 revolver with a jacketed hollow-point due to better penetration and much less recoil. There are many selections. One of the advisory statements for the Buffalo Bore 9mm +P Outdoorsman is that it will over penetrate humans. I have seen the video before. I have questions. Buffalo Bore is the go-to ammo manufacturer for heavy duty outdoorsman handgun loads. I'm currently looking fir the best outdoors load for my 45acp, and it looks like theirs might beat the Underwoods and Doubletaps. I'll be testing all three through the chronograph this winter. Prepare to read some real weird choices: I always carry a .40 Glock with two spare mags on my right hip. Bear spray on the left. And, either a pistol caliber carbine, a .40 Keltec sub2000 with a cheap red dot that takes the same Glock mags as the pistol, and I carry three stick mags for it. 31 round double stack mags. But 99% of the time it's unloaded in my pack, but easily accessible. Yes, over a hundred rounds of 40 s&w in Glock mags, interchangeable with each other. Mostly because when I'm in the woods, there's no real range to shoot out to and the sub2k folds in 1/2 and only takes a few seconds to flip open to battery and I have a paranoid fear over running out of ammo but only when I carry these two. Plus the sub2k is a blast to shoot, I usually wind up wasting ammo on target shooting with it on the way out. If Im packing this, I'm usually not more than a few hours walk from the truck. Or, I carry a Remington 700 in either 30-06 or .270 with a total of 20 rounds of decent Hornady rounds. Four in the on board mag, a few in the sling and the rest in my pack. These both have decent but cheap optics, and the .270 was dropped on its head but still shoots accurately so I didn't bother to replace the optics on it. Both of these are light enough, accurate enough, and long range enough to shoot out a few hundred yards without too much concern for missing. I carry these usually at the low ready. Almost never slung. And they'll both kill anything in North America without trouble. Yes, a .270 will drop any animal in my areas, in the eastern US. 30-06 will do most any other animal in the nation, though loads of people want higher energy for big bears. I've been tempted to carry all three on the long walks, but my inconsistent paranoia over ammo tells me there is such thing as too much, lol. I don't know. Just weird like that. Hardly the biggest waste of energy I have, that's got to be the extra 50 pounds of lard I carry around with me on my gut. I get that semi-auto is less recoil, faster shots per second and generally more rounds per re-load which are all significant deciding factors. But I just have to ask; particularly in regard to semi-automatic pistols, do y'all ever have issues with those things jamming? I've seen that happen many times with semi-automatic pistols. With bolt action rifles, I think the spent shell has to be pulled out? I've never seen that happen with a lever action 30-30, or with a revolver (although the shells can stick sometimes on a revolver so they don't just fall out when re-loading). I definitely believe that semi-autos will jam more if they are not used very often and/or if they are not properly cleaned and oiled. I just don't know that much about that because I still have an inclination to stick with my lever action 30-30's and double action .357/38 caliber revolver.
