JumboJimJabrony Posted October 19 Posted October 19 In the south east as a "woods gun" I'll cary my smith 686. Historically I would cary a glock 23 or a 1911, sometimes still do. I honestly feel more need to worry about the people then animals. I've run into some absolute NUTs in surprisingly remote places. If I had my way I would just carry an AR10 shoulder slung but that's a bit harder to swing in more occupied areas. I was recently spending some time in Washington state and got introduced to the smith and wesson 500 mag. Which a buddy of mine carries for bears out that way. He convinced me I needed one but to be fair, that isnt a hard thing to do. 😅 1 1

okieman Posted November 1 Posted November 1 (edited) In SE Okla I usually carry a Marlin .45-70 with hand loaded 350 grain bullets. During the day that is. At night I have a SCAR 17 7.62x51, 168 grains with a light in case things turn hairy. Always have a Glock 20 on my hip. Edited November 1 by okieman correction 1 1
Backdoc Posted November 7 Posted November 7 When it comes to Bigfoot or other animals and guns I just call Jim from Wild Kingdom

One day not long ago a fellow in the lane next to me at the range was playing with his AR carbine. It had a nice red dot sighting system, and I commented on it. He asked me if I'd like to try it. I politely declined, but then he told me that it was chambered in 10mm. Well, that was a horse of a different color! It was fun. A great shooter. If one likes carbines in handgun chambering, it would be an attractive one. 1

Can still get a whopping 1900fps/2885 ft lbs with 360 gr BB! 1
