Description Of "bigfoot"

denialist:

"but I see you consider 9 feet tall "fanciful".

You are incorrect. I do not consider 9' tall "fanciful"

The glowing eyes and the running on two legs or four at 30 mph, that seems a bit fanciful to me though.

The "fanciful" was mostly directed at the combined list as a whole, and trying to envision one creature exhibiting all the listed traits.

30 MPH seems pretty tame compared to some proponents suggesting them chasing cars on the interstate. I just find it odd that you're upset at parns description, but no mention of the individuals whom bestowed BF with said attributes.

Awesome Point "denialist", I totally agree with that post, the claims that have been made have been coming in for many years and over time have built BF into a super being, i have used them myself over the years during a conversion.

Although there are as many theories about the BF phenomenon as there are members of this forum, there seem to be four main categories these theories fall into:

  • Pongid Bigfoot
  • Hominid Bigfoot
  • Paranormal Bigfoot
  • Psychic / Imaginary Bigfoot

I'd like to see Pongid replaced with Ponginae.

Anyways.

We cannot necessarily identify evolutionary relatedness with morphological distinctions.

Verified Bigfoot Molecular evidence will certainly help (big time) distinguish the biological reality (how closely related to African apes, Orangutans, Chimps, Humans).

Bipedal, talking gibberish, intelligence and behavior, banging on trees; whatever Bigfoots apparently do? :]

In his book Sasquatch: The Apes Among Us (1978), John Green stated he had 56 reports of glowing eyes.

Hey, just found this report from 1983 that includes the following description:

Estimated 10 foot tall, eyes reflected a green/pupils slit and feline-like, no neck, black in color, running upright on two legs, hair approximately 3 inches long.

They estimated the running speed at 30mph.

Here's another claim of bf running 30mph or greater:

...a Millersburg truck driver was understandably startled to find a white, shaggy furred bigfoot type creature trotting along beside his truck as he was driving down the road. The driver, a mint farmer, was going about 35 miles an hour; the creature was easily keeping pace with the moving vehicle.

Clearly parnassus moonlights as a mint farmer in Millersburg . . .

Bigfoot are said to hunt deer.

A quick internet search says that deer have a top speed of 30-40mph.

An internet search for the speed of grizzly bears also yields speed of 30-40mph.

Why is it so outlandish that a Bigfoot could also attain that speed?

Usain Bolt can run 28mph which is currently top speed for humans.

Edit: changed Usain from 23 to 28mph

Man has been hunting deer also and we can't go that fast, no need to if you use your brain, i have read that BF has a rather large one, or is at least very crafty.

According to research Man has the potential to run 35-40mph.

Again, sharing a similiar physical geometry, 35-40mph is not an absurd speed for a bigfoot.

When speaking of BF in the plural, I prefer the term "Bigfeets" for purely sentimenal reasons.

Sasquatch lung capacity would have to be at least double our own, and possibly more, based on the broader, deeper chest and longer torso. This tracks based on the length of their howls and reports of them remaining submerged for lengthy distances while swimming.

I was looking into correlations between height and lung capacity among humans and found a bunch of scatter plots to interpret, but essentially a six foot human has about a five liter lung capacity and a six foot two inch human has six liters. Extrapolate to bigfoot dimensions.

Lung capacity translates directly into physical capability in healthy individuals. Note that most successful Olympic swimmers are taller and have longer torsos.

Stronger musculature, better lung capacity, presumably better oxygenation of the blood, more efficient oxygen supply to the stronger musculature.... you can see that there is rational physical potential that can explain some of their extraordinary physical capabilities.

denialist:

" I just find it odd that you're upset at parns description,"

Again, you are stating a condition of your imagination, rather than a fact.

I am not "upset" by the description.

I was curious if the person offering the description composed it himself or was quoting another source who made the discriptive list, and if so who was the source.
