Apple, wind, bounce, rodent a great hypothesis to me, ground shake? 

 

Seems quite likely the foundation for that apple placement stability is highly suspect too. 

 

I'll buy the pant hoot experience in Alaska, had a similar experience in dense fog post thunderstorm inversion on a mtn ridge myself (known hot spot in NC).

 

Wish him luck on the fund raiser, hope he doesn't revisit Radium Springs and Standin
