There's decades of a research that supports [certain] witness reports as credible evidence (not as proof, but still) and discredits debunker arguments against these witnesses - research on eye witness testimony, memory, deception, ecology (wildlife monitory/conservation biology), group norms (in sociology). On DNA, I gotta feel bad for Brian Sykes and his DNA study several years ago. Here's a respected academic who approached the topic with an open mind and his colleagues basically labeled him a quack for doing so. The fallout of course is that other academics likely won't touch the topic now, unless they come at it as patronizing debunkers. And if academics don't do the DNA study, the academic community won't take the study seriously, which means media won't take it seriously. That's my opinion, anyway.

We have Darby and NCSU doing their DNA study currently. I don’t believe the topic has become untouchable. But I certainly am interested in fundraising for other series academic endeavors. Outside of vocalizations or infrasonic studies, I’m not sure what avenues to pursue.

Thanks @CryptidTalk I wasn't aware of Darby Orcutt's work at NC State. He doesn't have an active link to the project on his NCSU profile page (https://chass.ncsu.edu/people/dcorcutt/) and the BRFO last updated the study status in Aug 2023 (https://www.bfro.net/news/hair_DNA_project.asp). Does the project have a website and do you have a link you can share? If not, I might reach out to Orcutt and see what's up. I did notice that Radford is already taking aim at the study (http://skepdigest.awardspace.us/Bigfoot-Dead.pdf).

This is the link he posted recently on his Facebook group.  https://sites.google.com/ncsu.edu/darbyorcutt/

He posted an update yesterday to state around 100 samples have been submitted so far and roughly half of them have been received. Their first round of testing has been completed and they are adding new geneticists not their lineup. - That’s a very condensed version of what he posted.
