Pennsylvania 1838 - The Whistling Boy - Tirademan!

From the August 3, 1838, edition of the Baltimore (MD) Sun.  Versions of this story can be found in The Bigfoot Casebook by Janet and Colin Bord; Bigfoot in New York and New England by Paul and Robert Bartholomew (even though the encounter was in Pennsylvania!), and Bigfoot in Pennsylvania by Timothy Renner. 

 

UPDATE October 2025: Note that this story mentions two clearly distinct encounters.  The 1837 encounter is in or near Bridgewater; from the context, I believe that this is Bridgewater, Pennsylvania, near the Ohio border.  The 1938 encounter is quite some distance to the northeast, along the New York border.
