Given that neither large size, large tracks, nor lots of hair is mentioned, this may indeed be an escaped lunatic.  Reported in the York (PA) Democratic Press, so one has to wonder how they got their information.  That being said, the article appears between a report that inmates at Sing Sing prison in New York were going to begin manufacturing silk and an ad by a local ice cream maker advising that he was up and running again.
