Trogluddite Posted August 10 Posted August 10 (edited) Sorting these topics by "Title" will produce a chronological listing of reference materials. "Just because someone printed something in an earlier book or article doesn't make the fact true." This quote from a Forum member describes the problem discussing the Patterson-Gimlin film. Books, articles, and videos all state "facts" (e.g., the first story about the P-G film was in the afternoon edition of the Eureka Times-Standard) without identifying a reliable source for that fact. While there is a wealth of first-hand information, the original newspaper articles, interviews, and other first-hand information are scattered on the internet or limited to those who have the source (e.g., a copy of Argosy magazine) in their personal library. Not everyone has the time or resources to track down the first generation sources and the casual Bigfoot researcher or those new to the field may not find them. This collection is an effort to make the evidence surrounding the P-G film accessible to all. The naming protocol for topics in this forum will allow readers who sort by "Title" to create a chronological list of resources. Most topics will be named "YYYY - Type of Resource - Summary of Resource." Thus, the 1992 interview of Bob Gimlin by John Green will be labeled 1992 - Interview - B. Gimlin by J. Green. * Some dates may read "YYYY/MM/DD" where necessary * The primary types of resources for now will be News Article, Interview, Background, etc. Yes, I am making this stuff up as I go along. The topics in this forum will be tightly controlled. It is a location to put source documents, not to discuss them. It is also a place for primary source documents, not videos put up 50 years after the fact by every Tom, Dick, and Harriet with a You-Tube channel. Suggestions for primary source documents that are missing or buried in a thread are very welcome; please message me (or the Forums staff) if you think I'm missing something. This collection is intended solely as educational material without the intent of gaining benefit or financial gain, and to allow comment upon the materials. The Bigfoot Forums does not claim any copyright in the materials. Edited August 14 by Trogluddite Multiple edits to get stuff publication ready.
