Unfortunately, this article is very typical of early reports.  Brief and non-descriptive, and published in a paper located far from where the events occurred. Published in the York (PA) Democratic Press on August 5, 1842. 

 

 

The Litchfield (CT) Enquirer took the opportunity to poke fun at a politician.
