This is a classic, mentioned many times in the Forums and highlighted by Norseman at https://bigfootforums.com/topic/62420-the-bauman-story/#comment-1020163.  I'm sure that there are more threads about.  These pages are from the 1893 edition of Teddy Roosevelt's The Wilderness Hunter, which I have as an Adobe Acrobat file.  The book is likely available as an e-book as well.
