Trogluddite Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) While large footprints were first reported to the Humboldt Standard in September, a set of tracks found on or about Wednesday, October 1, 1958, appears to have launched this article. The paper took time investigate the report, talk to Gerry Crew's friends and neighbors, and write the article, which appeared on October 6, 1958. This incident received little traction outside of California and the Pacific Northwest. A a search of Newspapers.com revealed only 193 newspapers across the US which had a story about "Bigfoot" in October and this includes stories about Bigfoot Wallace (a Texas Ranger), the town of Bigfoot (in Texas), a burglar nicknamed, and duplicate references to the same articles.
