1967/10/20 - Background - Sunrise/Sunset Data for Day of Encounter

As calculated by the U.S. Naval Observatory's Astronomical Applications Department.  For those unfamiliar with "civil twilight," this is the time where there's usable sunlight, which begins before the sun actually rises and ends after the sun actually sets. 

 

UPDATE at 4:12 PM: I went back and had the computer recalculate using the lat/long for the encounter site rather than for Eureka, which was the closest location that was available.  Additionally, after confirming on the Time and Date website that Daylight Saving Time was not in effect on 20 October 1967, I looked and found a box to check that I had not noticed when I first ran the data.  Therefore this calculation does not include the switch to Daylight Saving Time.
