To say that hysteria reigned over the reports of a gorilla attack is an understatement.  Samuel Bolig's injuries grew worse with every article, as seen in this report from the Wilkes-Barre (PA) Times Leader on December 14, 1920.  A week later, the entire region was in fear, as reported in the Pittsburgh (PA) press on December 21, 1920.
