Pennysylvania 1871 (not 1873) - "Wild Man" is Just Dutch Superstition

Oh, and by the way - one was seen last week near Welsh Mountain.  Published in the Reading (PA) Times on January 6, 1873.

UPDATE 17 Dec 2025:  It turns out that this column was first printed, in it's entirety, in the Lancaster (PA) Daily Intelligencer on August 12, 1871.  Having not found any differences in the paragraph concerning the hairy man (and not caring about the rest), I'm not clipping the older account.  Apparently, a Pennsylvania Dutchman took umbrage at the column written by Gath, the Chicago correspondent, and responded on August 18, 1871 in the Daily Intelligencer.  The relevant part is added.
