Trogluddite Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago This article was published in The Boston (MA) Globe on January 14, 2024 and the author John O'Connor is simply recycling a chapter from his book, The Secret History of Bigfoot. The earliest mention of the phrase "Barrington Beast" found by Newspapers.com were in the 1830s and referred to oxen to be sold at auction (i.e., Mr. Barrington's fine beast) or costumes worn by the distinguished to parties (i.e., Mr. Barrington, beast; Miss Smith, Mother Hubbard). One "tell" is the claim that the beast was described as having a gorilla-like face. As noted in the thread on Ourang-Outangs, gorillas, and gorilla suits at https://bigfootforums.com/forum/206-orangutans-gorillas-and-gorilla-suits/?sortby=title&sortdirection=asc, gorillas were not commonly known until the mid-1800s at the earliest. There is something distinctly off about this article.
