Trogluddite Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) After being exhibited throughout the United States, Julia Pastrana traveled overseas and was displayed as a "nondescript" as reported in the first story, from The Era of London, England on January 3, 1858. She reached Moscow (which is fairly remarkable for the 1850s) as reported in the Belfast News-Letter of Belfast, Northern Ireland on June 5, 1858. Several papers used extremely harsh language in describing Miss Pastrana, implying that she was unfit to be alive. The third (long) article, from The Hobart Town (Australia) Daily Mercury on Friday, June 25, 1858, was much more gracious. Edited February 7 by Trogluddite
