Backdoc Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago (edited) Why use a Track Runner in the MDF… The reason the TV show used the elite runner was to establish an extreme. It’s the same reason people want to know how tall Patty is. If Patty is 6’1” tall it’s the same as many available men. If Patty was some outrageous height 7 or 8 feet tall then it immediately becomes more likely Patty is no man in a suit. Onto the MDF and the runner: If the elite runner- who is not even burdened with a suit -couldn’t outrun the MDF figure it virtually guarantees its no man in a suit. If it’s not a man a man in a suit it must be real creature. It was the simplest way to test the MDF. We don’t know how fast the runner would run wearing a suit. Even if he could run faster than our MDF figure while wearing a suit the real and hoax possibility exists. The show wanted to set up an extreme. If the figure exceeded that extreme it would be a fast way to case closed. Edited 14 hours ago by Backdoc
Trogluddite Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The most important part of that video is on the screen capture. I first heard of this video on the TV show Bigfoot: Legend Meets Science. At that time, and through the first few years of Finding Bigfoot, I had at most a mild curiosity about the topic. I always understood that the subject in the MDF was running across a hillside along a random path through the underbrush, rocks, brambles, downed logs, and other things that litter nature. If it was running along a well-worn hiking trail in the middle of the day, that suggests to me that it was a human in a suit participating in a hoax (whether known or unknown to those filming it). I don't recall the Bigfoot: Legend Meets Science book or tv show making clear that the subject of the film was running on a hiking trail.

Yet, it wouldn't be hard to imagine any hoaxer getting familiar with the path I might run. A hoaxer also might have home field advantage where they would know the hillside and area involved. I would expect whatever the case they would not be running in an area they knew nothing about. Unless it was an obstacle course, I would think most typical hillsides would be manageable even in a suit. Edited 44 minutes ago by Backdoc
