Guest slimwitless
Disappointing news about Dr. Sykes: He's not coming to Oregon in March. Shocked.
Drew
He probably doesn't want to be accidentally associated with what came out last week.
Guest
Supposedly, he IS still going to evaluate the work. He just backed out of the appearance. Drew, what source gave you access to the full study data, and what credentials do you have that allow you to analyze that data? BobbyO Posted February 22, 2013 SSR Team Share Posted February 22, 2013 It is important to note that these results are specific to ONE place and one particular set of incidents. The finding does not invalidate all other reports and/or evidence from other places It's probably more important to note that The Sun is the UK's equivalent of the US's National Enquirer. Problem is its the UK's biggest selling " Newspaper ", and I use the term " Newspaper " loosely.

Oonjerah
It's a nice time in San Francisco. Bigfootology on FB; Rhettman Mullis & Bryan Sykes. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bigfootology/169864543051503
Guest
Yes, I am following this also, pretty nifty - he is taking him through the PacNW and has promised to fill us in as soon as they finish out the week.
MarkGlasgow
Really promising developments. Hopefully Sykes won't be scared off to much, but great to see he has an open mind on the subject and is keen to learn.
Oonjerah
If he is as brilliant as Mullis says, then his need to know will far outweigh his skepticism.
Guest OntarioSquatch
He seems to have a reputation of going where other scientists are afraid to go. He was the first scientist to extract and analyse DNA from an ancient bone. His findings were published in the science journal Nature in 1989. I think we're extremely lucky to have him
Oonjerah
http://bigfootforums...620#entry718788 ... I am pretty jazzed on the one hand this is happening, and Bigfootology/Rhettman will be a source of info on this as it progresses, on the other it is still months away and his choices of samples much smaller apparently than MKs...hard to judge that by numbers only...... I do not expect it to track like the MK study ....I hope anyway! Rhettman has posted some photos and updates on Bigfootology's FB page From my armchair, trying to bring Dr. Sykes into focus ... maybe looking at his past interviews now on YouTube. I see -- hmmm. He's already published a lot of scientific papers and several books for the general public. And he still has the respect of his peers! I really feel better now that he's come to the PNW to visit one of our best researchers. Edited March 16, 2013 by Oonjerah
bipedalist Posted March 16, 2013 BFF Patron Share Posted March 16, 2013 Well I'm glad Dr. Sykes is getting the royal treatment from Mullis. I was sorry to see Jack D. Barnes associated on a supporters page of Bigfootology though.
Guest
I must have misunderstood Dr. Sykes...and it explains why no one answered my question. The mtDNA of both Denisova and neanderthal do differ significantly from modern human. His point now I understand : that of the i million modern human mtDNA on file none show deviation like Denisova or Neanderthal...although a significant amount (that 1-4% depending which species which human group) is shared in the nDNA... with that then it does seem those 14 perfectly matching to haplogroups of modern human mtDNA of the Ketchum study is likely contamination... or BFs are modern humans.... or yes...a non-evolution/accepted genomic view of the hominin possibilities.... and I can be confident now that Sykes mtDNA work will be sufficient to show BFs as unique....or not at all....or modern humans
Cotter
OK. Last year, Sykes says to send in alleged BF hair samples.....He says he'll get them tested and release a paper by EOY 2012. Now, nearly 3 months into 2013, no results released, HOWEVER, Bryan is taking a trip to the PNW with a BF researcher? There are red flags and green flags.... Would this not be considered a green flag? If Sykes had tested all or nearly all of his samples and ID'd them as common, why would he even for a second consider taking a PNW trip wtih a BF researcher??? Just some food for thought. Guest
Well, I am hoping his, co-author's, and University's stature will be enough to publish one study and analysis of the 30 or so samples (mtDNA has options even within that and Rhett has more info there) in a peer-review Journal. He stated expect nothing before next fall, at the earliest. I think, If BFs do not have human mtDNA it will show, if they do it may be ambiguous, but prepare testing for the next step, methodically. If he gets no viable samples, I will be bummed. If you have hair, with decent provenance, now is the time to contact Bigfootology..there is still room for some more...for a short while. I think it is amazing that he accepted a 1000+ mile ride to Wa. with Rhett and his family after meeting in SF. He was doing all the stops to meet whoever set it up en route, and see the landscape, on top of an international trip...(he lives in New Zealand during the winter and was returning home to UK via SF International).... they all looked pretty tired but determined to see it all... I want to read that as serious interest...but he did not say he thought BFs were real..haha, I told him there were He did not seem persuaded, but lent a kind ear and was very respectful. He was exactly like I want/imagine a famous geneticist to be...refined, relaxed, humorous, charming, real, and really smart... .I left feeling like a real dummy...and wish I had known I was driving there...I would have at least obtained a copy of his book to sign..as it was he signed a random BF book I bought at the store in Willow Creek.... two thumbs up.... the autograph slams me for my poor substitute...ha..loved it..cheeky.
