Guest Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Haha I did think about starting one...but who wants to listen to the rants of someone who is, by their own admission, still a bit of a newbie when it comes to the whole phenomenon
BobbyO Posted September 16, 2012 SSR Team Posted September 16, 2012 Pssstt, don't say it too loud Scots, but none of us are experts on this subject, including the man who this thread is about, whether he thinks so or not..
Guest Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Well true, but you know what I mean I've only read a couple of books and watched pretty much every documentary I can find haha
Guest TexasTracker Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 MM has drawn the subject into the mainstream. That action alone has done wonders for the field. As the subject has become for acceptable, more and more reports seem to come out. All steps in the right direction in my opinion. Matt Pruitt is a stand-out guy. His expeditions are first rate and an excellent introduction into the BF world for folks that are eager to learn. He represents the BFRO and the BF community well.... Kudos to ya brother.

As does Mr Cutino.. Thumbs up.
Guest okiesquatchartist Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I tweeted him once. Me too about black panthers. Got a smart ass, know it all remark. MM Started the database. However, countless members of the BFRO are the ones who have updated and maintained it, making the organization what it is today. I respect the members, but MM is just an idea man who makes sasquatch research look like a joke on an international level to the public eye. He's a smartass & makes some odd claims, but the way he represents the squatch community-i don't think thats entirely his fault (referring to Finding Bigfoot). He's definitely enthusiastic and has shed light on the search for the squatch. Bringing this to the public eye imo has helped real science get involved and backed people who have put their reputation on the line in the name of squatching (Meldrum). I thought of him as a kook once, but after I thought about it, he has done alot for squatching.
Guest wudewasa Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 MM's behavior dates back LONG before Finding Bigfoot. His people skills are often questionable, and this is why he is disliked by so many people in the bigfoot field.

Probly from years of ridicule & whatnot (just giving him the benefit of the doubt). I don't particularly like the guy, but I don't dislike him either-I've never met him or gone squatchin with him. He might be cool as hell or a complete ****** bag for all I know. But it is obvious that his people skills need touched up lol. What I meant when I referred to FB was that they probly show things they want to & not necessarily everything MM wants them to-which could lead to people believing that he is misrepresenting the Squatch Community.
Guest Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Oh I don't know. He pretty much comes across on twitter exactly as he does on the show. No doubt the producers want to maximize drama, tension and maybe even a bit of kookiness but I suspect Mr. Moneymaker makes it easy for them.
Guest wudewasa Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 MM has disrespected a number of BFF members on multiple occasions. Within forum rules, I will ask the affected parties to post their interactions with him if they feel it to be beneficial. The mods have the final say of whether this will escalate into a MM bashing thread or not. Historically, a number of slighted individuals came to BFF 1.0, bringing their knowledge and experiences with them that related to bigfoot research. We are fortunate to have them here. This issue is bigger than many folks know, and perhaps it should rest with them, or be shared as multiple cautionary tales.
Guest zenmonkey Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Matt Pruitt is another BFRO researcher and organizer. Different dude. ya hes a cool dude talked to him on the phone a few times stay in contact with email super nice guy not crazy
BobbyO Posted September 19, 2012 SSR Team Posted September 19, 2012 MM has disrespected a number of BFF members on multiple occasions. Disrespecting people isn't a crime though. We're all Adults after all.
Guest wudewasa Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 BobbyO, I choose to differentiate between illegal and immoral. Adults know the difference between right and wrong. Perhaps it's a cultural difference that you and I have, but repeated disrespect towards others doesn't sit well with me, hence my strong dislike for MM, both as a person as well as his persistent and fantastic claims about bigfoot.
BobbyO Posted September 20, 2012 SSR Team Posted September 20, 2012 I don't think it's a cultural thing, well it may be. I think repeated disrespect doesn't sit well with anyone and i think the difference may be that i don't take name calling on the internet very seriously and feel if someone is going to repeatedly disrespect someone else from behind a computer then it says more about that person than it needs to get me being worried about it. Confrontation may be a cultural difference between us however, that's for sure.

He does make some odd claims every here and there. But one thing about saying something over the internet - you really can't see the emotions of a person who is writing something. Depending on the word choices, it may be difficult to determine the emotion without seeing facial expressions - especially without knowing whether or not that person making the claims actually knows how to convey expression through typing. People see MM on tv and by his tweets automatically assume he's jerky. To be honest, I'm kinda torn between the two opinions because of a response I got from him once, yet I've talked to numerous researchers that said he's actually not that bad in person.
