If Sasquatch Is Proven Real, And "human", Is This A Public Safety Issue?

Those who still love the backcountry will still go out there - but perhaps more carefully. Those who hunt will still hunt. Those who want to "bag" a sasquatch will still want that - and still likely be thwarted by their elusive prey, same as always. We can't find the darn things when we WANT to, I doubt we'll be rushing to the woods en mass to have a look-see any time soon. Those that do that, will find - since they are already not outdoorsmen - that it's wet and cold or hot and dirty in the woods and the novelty of "looking for sasquatch" will wear off real soon....

The only ones new rules might effect in any significant ways, are habituators and those who have multiple encounters, I think... then we'll have to tread carefully, because humans are not usually the initiators in this scenario... those will have to be handled on a case by case basis, The other group it will effect are sasquatch "researchers" as we call them... amateur bigfoot enthusiasts. These two groups, composed primarily of average folks, will probably find their favorite hobby and home situation under much more scrutiny, maybe more than they like, as professionals move on in - scientists who need information. And since we all know sasquatch is SOOO accomodating to being photographed and videotaped (sarcasm), then it may be a conflict filled situation for scientists, habituators and field researchers.... we will have to come to some equilibrium in how the situation is to be handled, since the subject is NOT a mere animal, but has a definite will and intelligence of it's own to be tossed into the ring.

Though I also have to imagine that maybe, just maybe, there will become a job niche opening up - actual paid work - for bigfoot field researchers with experience. I could imagine a hotline for bigfoot information being set up - and knowledgeable people answering phone lines talking with concerned folks. I can also imagine field researchers being sent out to investigate reports to determine if a home/camp/area is encountering bigfoots or other things (homeless folks, crazies etc running around in the woods). I could also see a job niche in trauma counseling for folks who have had traumatic encounters or who cannot handle the thought of living on a dual intelligent species planet for whatever reason. I could also imagine field researchers taking out scientists on long term camping trips to teach them about sasquatch, and try to encounter them - paid, funded studies. I could also imagine non-profits working to establish and maintain sasquatch rights (whatever they will be) and to educate people about them (I would like to do this someday - have a non-profit that does workshops and public safety presentations to groups - like hunters, outdoorsmen groups, gun clubs/NRA chapters, outdoors gear companies - anyone who works with folks who regularly go out into the woods).

Then, it might pay to have an established, documented field research blog, website or respected presence online. Maybe instead of being mocked, someday field researchers will be fought over by competing scientific establishments and paid to do their hobby - search for bigfoot. And I hope the government agency that eventually will be in charge of sasquatch research will look to places like the BFF and the BFRO for those field researchers and see and recognize some of the talented and intelligent folks here. Wouldn't that be nice?

Hey Sunflower, nice one. If they still have the majority believing (70 percent or so) in North America that they are not real, I cant imagine that its going to be a wholesale change in belief when the assessment work is done and they are actually eventually accepted by science as we know it. I still know people who do not believe in hypnotism. Regarding mass hysteria once more people do believe it, I dont think so because so many people in so many areas are already aware of them. Plus now you cant go 2 days without there being something on tv that references them. So the desensitization aspect has begun. Regarding getting them to do what WE want.. what do you think ?

I think there will of course be women who want to be the "first" woman to have a Bigfoot Baby, and if they are indeed close enough genetically to accomplish that, then I guess it is possible that sooner or later a modern human lady will have a half Sasquatch baby. which would open up an entirely new can of issues, for her, the child, and the law and authorities and rules that the child would live under. I'm tempted to add the responsibilities of the Father, but I wont be that facetious. But under the gist of this thread, it is a real issue that would need to be addressed.

PB- under the aforementioned post the responsibilities would more than likely fall on the mother "knowing" what the ramifications of her actions might entail; I'm thinking you were just joking, right? With that said one way of classifing species is their cognitive abilities to understand their effects on other creatures of their kind and the cause and effect of such actions.Actually though it would be interesting ton see that scenario play out.

Women who may want to 'get busy' with a Sasquatch??

Presumably you imagine they subscribe to the men with big feet theory?

This topic has taken a dramatic new turn...

lol, I was being half facetious regarding the first Human Bigfoot baby, but maybe the issue would come up judging from current events regarding the interest in getting a woman to be a surrogate mother to a Neanderthal infant. The Neanderthal story sparked that idea lol

Guest Ms. Sasquatch

I dont think they're human, though the social science behind Bigfoot, if proven real, is very interesting. Here in the USA, we look at Africa, where people live with wild Gorillas chillin' in their backyard and it seems so far off and so exotic, and it could be a major change in overall attitude if suddenly the same situation was confirmed in North America.

That's what Europeans said about Native Americans, Africans and the Tasmanians(now extinct from white people) 100 plus years ago. We have to wait and see.
