Guest Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Lets just say campers have had "things" messing around their campsites at night and some pesky "bear" reports opening trash cans and putting the lids back on... LOL
Guest Rex Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I'm gonna hide my night vision and supplies in my bad hopefully she wont realize it til we get there lol. Your Freudian slip is showing...
Guest Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I may have to schedule a visit to that area, does anyone have any specific camp grounds to check out?
Guest Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I would wait to winter when they stock rainbow trout and pick some camps far to the edges of the expansion. Its been a long time since I went.
WRabbit Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Camping facilities can be found in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area near Sulphur, Oklahoma. I've camped here and at Turner Falls. Both are nice, but I believe there have been more sightings around Sulphur.
the parkie Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I can't really add any practical advice but can only say this... Who says romance is dead?!
Guest zenmonkey Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Your Freudian slip is showing... Lol ya I was typIng on my iPad. Darn thing and its auto correct. Sunflower Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Chickasaw National Park area reports a sick fox in June of this year, which had to be put down. Rabies is a problem there and everywhere. Be careful.

OKBFFan Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I have spent lots of time in Sulphur and do the "nature walk" every time we go down (I am from Lexington). I actually asked the ranger once about any "odd" reports, and during that awkward moment, before she responded (you dont know which way its going to go at that point), my sons shook their heads and walked off. She actually said, she had heard several "bear" reports in the area, and there are NO bear there, so there ya go. At least she didnt dismiss me. She actually responded, albeit cryptically. Its a very pretty area.
Guest Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Beautiful area, may just be worth a trip just for the scenery. RG
