Cascades Carnivore Project - How Do They Miss The Bigfoots?

^Just out of curiosity, how many folks are involved in this above study?

How many person-hours were put in the field to observe for BF type evidence?

Does this group provide training to it's staff and volunteers on what to look for regarding said BFR evidence?

You know when I'll believe any of this scientists-would-never-do-that crap?

When I get documentation that scientists in the field are (1) carrying Meldrum's field guide and (2) treating anything they find along the lines of what is addressed in that field guide the way they would sign left by anything else.

(And don't tell me they haven't found it.  I have.  If they haven't, they are incompetent.)

And anyone who thinks that's unreasonable would...well, would send out one email; get one disingenuous response; and say see?  Th-th-th-that's all, folks!

I have to agree with WSA.

Not saying they are covering anything up but you can not trust a response from any group let alone a government one.  I feel like the email would fall into the same category as most BF reports fall into for me.  Inconclusive and not useful as real evidence, just another report/interesting story, I feel they need to be treated the same.

At a place I used to work it was common place to tip-toe around and general public's questions and give just enough information without really providing any information then back it up with technical babble until their faces glazed over.   Was it really that important to hide things from them.... probably not, but that is how any question no matter how innocent they seemed were handled and when it came to anything going on record say with a news reporter nothing was allowed to be said response  was always "I am not at liberty to say, please contact our public relations division"

The same field guide sold at book stores next to all the other hokey bigfoot memorabilia?

You should send a letter to the forsest service or congressmen stressing the need for field researchers to carry this important document with them.

I've experienced first hand gov't coverups.  On a very small, local level.  It was in the public's best interest so that the community would not panic.

To think they don't occur at higher levels for the same reason is well.....

This was over a known species as well.

"No sir, there ain't no rattlesnakes around here..."

I can send an e-mail to that entity and ask them direct questions, and they will deny it.

I too am doubtful that info on BF evidence would be readily offered to some stranger in an e-mail

You slay me man. I'm going to decline to buy that really nice high-grav micro brew tonight because, you know, it sits on the shelf next to the Miller and Blatz.

Like, where else would you put it for people looking to buy it?

I just love the "Nope, no BF's have we seen here" missive from our friends at the GP Task Force. Thanks BTW, for getting that for us Kitikaze, and that nice person should also be appreciated for the kind response.

If I weren't in the question asking business, and if I hadn't spent decades representing organizations and corporations and helping them answer really, really pointed questions concerning very serious allegations of really, really bad things they've done (including killing some other really nice people in gruesome and creative ways) I might find that response more compelling. But I know human institutions all too well.  That's how many people-years since 1985 we're talking about? I am here to tell you, as an expert, that the possibility of any person actually having the knowledge to correctly assert the truth of that represented fact is vanishingly small. Do they cover stuff up? Oh yeah they do, and not maliciously, always. You are only going to find out about it at the last possible extreme, when they can't suppress it any longer, and still get away with it. (This is often when the Judge is ready to empanel your jury, and the corporate rep. turns to you to say, "I didn't know if this was important for you to know, or not....." Aieeeee!!!)

I think it doesn't do much to dissuade me as to the possibility of govt. suppression, although it does confirm (if accurate) that the incidents of BF encounters by folks in the GPNF are about on a par with the incidents in the general population who also spend time in the wilds by choice or necessity.

Again, I give you lots of credit for trying, but some things just can't be neatly wrapped up by a breezy email. Same goes for some BFF threads as well.

I'm here to represent man, I'm as dumb now as I was when I started reading this monster!

Why is it that proponents are only suspicious of these wildlife officials when they get the answer they didn't want?  Whenever one of these folks offers some anecdotal story about bigfoot it gets hoisted up and waved around vigorously. But when they say, no they have never seen a bigoot or any evidence of one. The response becomes " Liar!!"

One of the best examples of sheer unthinking denial I can come up with offhand is the assertion that "coverups just don't happen."

They happen all the time...and for the most mundane and totally understandable reasons imaginable.  And yes, a number of sasquatch reports include what look like coverups by land management and law enforcement personnel for just those mundane reasons.

Summing them up:

As smart as people can be, they can be just as stupid.  Large numbers of them are like energy drinks for stupidity.  Let's just close this site off and clean things up.  Telling them would serve, exactly, what purpose...?

Right.  You have it all figured out, and you, um, sound like it.

Everything you have "figured out," I mean.  The rest of us can just go on about our business because you're not making much of a ripple.

Why is it that proponents  bigfoot skeptics are only suspicious of these wildlife officials when they get the answer they didn't want?  Whenever one of these folks offers some anecdotal story about bigfoot not being real or seen or being imaginary or thousands of people just being afflicted with some kind of random undiagnosed stoooopidity it gets hoisted up and waved around vigorously. But when they say, no they have never seen a bigoot or any evidence of one.actually, I saw one, and here's what happened when I talked about it. The response becomes " Liar!!"

You see what I did there.  And they're not even lying.

WSA, this isn't open mic at the Comedy Shack.  These constant off topic schticks are neither funny nor productive. Could you be a sport and stop it please?

Yes usually serious scientific documents and journals are located next to key chains, t-shirts, faux hair from mythical animals, and mugs.

The thing looks like a joke.  Most people who see it laymen and scientists alike perceive it to be a joke.  Its placed next to joke items.

But I digress, what about that treefrog trail cam shot? I feel it could be the clincher here....anyone?

No, man.  Saola.

We have trailcam shots...but no scientist has ever seen one in the wild.

When one does...bigfoot's not real.  I am liking this bigfoot-skeptic mindset more by the minute.

Let's try it out.

DAUGHTER:  Can I have the car, Daddy?

Me:  Prove there's a car.  Go ahead.

DAUGHTER:  DADDY, COME OUT AND LOOK.  Are you kidding me or something?  We have a blue Dodge.

Me:  I see one car out the window, and it's yellow.  Fail.

DAUGHTER:  IS THIS A JOKE!?!?!

Me:  This is a matter of science and evidence.  My eyes see no blue car.  Scientists say there are blue cars; but I've never read a book that says we have one.

DAUGHTER:  DAAAAAAAAAAA-DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...

Me:  This.Is.SERIOUS.  Where is the proof?  Show me one scientist who says I have a blue Dodge.  ONE.

DAUGHTER:  I am, like, so, like, not believing this.  M-m-mOOOOOOOOOOM!!?!?  (MOM is looking at me funny and moving to the phone but I am RIGHT)

Me:  I.Am.RIGHT!

[MOM is starting to dial phone.  Three digits.  Hmmmmm....]

DAUGHTER [tone indicates deep fear; can barely hear her]  Please.  Go look outside.

Me:  I.Am.RIGHT!!!!!!  Why are you making me check ...stuff...out...????

[sound of SIRENS.  I can ...I am not ....I.AM.RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]

Gonna be a fuuuuuun evening at the place, got that feeling.
