Guest Cryptic Megafauna
My idea is to share some approaches and techniques that are helpful. Two idea I will put up are how to add topo to Google Earth and a bit later how to extract all the high resolution frames contained in the the stabilized Patterson film Gif that has been floating around. For trick one: Here is a earth science trick that is helpful for analysing your hike planning or to get more info from the topography. It's how to add a topographic layer to Google Earth, very handy. http://equipped.outd...ic-maps-to.html for number two I will post later but here is a sample. Guest Cryptic Megafauna
For second idea the easy way is extract frames from a gif animation of the P-G film is to upload to a site like http://gifmaker.me/exploder/ and download the result. Possibly a better way if you have linux is command line with imagemagick or VLC media player. https://superuser.com/questions/135117/how-to-convert-video-to-images/729351#729351 https://www.isimonbrown.co.uk/vlc-export-frames/ for the second link you will need to play around and do more research. There are better options as well if I can find a really good video sequence and have some time I'll try to figure out what I did to get my best extracts again, again ; ) A great way to play with the gif frames is in Blender 3D animation. For blender go to bottom left button and select movie clip editor and drag and drop your animated gif. You can step through frames with the tools at the bottom and look for a window with a one in it, that is the frame window and with the arrow you can step through the frames one at a time. Guest Cryptic Megafauna
I have a new easy method for extracting high quality frames from the stabilized GIF of the Patterson Gimlin film that has been floating around the internet. Take the GIF and open it in VirtualDub which is freeware and get the download link from sourceforge dot net. Follow the simple instructions here.
