I also want to say that some of you are confusing the interviewee Bear Hunter, with the shooter, who was bear hunting.

That is most certainly not the case.

I can also say that you make assertions that I have checked with Bear Hunter, and he has affirmed that he did not say that.

There is a problem here. Bear Hunter and I went over the interview soon after publication. Several changes were then made. He also received a copy for redaction immediately after publication. He has not yet returned this copy to me. If he thinks I misquoted him somehow, he needs to return that copy to me. He hasn't done so yet. We had another 2 hour conversation and multiple emails after publication. He made some changes, but has not suggested any more.

One problem with interviews is that people will typically tell you certain things. You record them or take notes or whatever. Then you go write it up and they insist they never said that. Happens all the time in any long interview.

Let's lighten up on each other. If Fox was highly paid by us as a journalist, then he would have time to check out all the facts. Let me summarize the story so we can all get on the same page.

So Silver Fox interviews bear hunter 1 who knows of bear hunter 2 who shoots two BFs last winter. Do we know Bear Hunter 2's name? If so can someone call him? Why not? Bear Hunter 2 drove around a corner on a dirt road in his hunting area and saw what he thought was a extremely large strange looking bear standing in the distance with it's front paws above its head. He shoots it, then shoots a juvenile BF. The big female BF runs off into the brush and the juvenile rolls down the hill dead but Bear Hunter 2 drives off and leaves an important zoological discovery. Why? Mulder says, "If it is not EXPLICITLY permitted to hunt it, you may not hunt it, take it's corpse, or any part thereof."

It was near the Dixie Mountain Game Refuge west of Frenchman Lake on the Plumas National Forest. The refuge is located in Plumas County, CA, near Frenchman Lake. Dekefoot says, "Silverfox, would it be too much to ask that you not divulge any more about the area please." Why? What is Dekefoot's role in this story?

Later someone goes back to the area and finds a chunk of flesh buried in the snow but can't find the BFs. The flesh is mailed to a DNA expert. Who? Can somone call the DNA expert to verify this? If this is true, then the story has a ring of truth.

Some one dug up a thread from May 2010 that Ken Walker participated in as "skywalker". Is this Bear Hunter 1, the taxidermist?

...The big female BF runs off into the brush and the juvenile rolls down the hill dead...
One more thing: The first BF shot in Plumas County by the hunter was reportedly a female.

Correction? The above quote is from a Silver Fox post earlier in the thread. I did not see derekfoot deny

this claim? The BF shot was female, true or false derekfoot, skywalker or anyone else with knowledge of the incident?

Karyotyping of the sample will eventually (I hope) determine sex chromosomes (and the presence or absence of a Y-chromosome and thus gender of the BF) if that analysis is part of the study, which I assume it would have to be in a comprehensive study.

If I had just shot 2 bf creatures that I did not even believe existed, and another was still loose and possibly close by in the woods, I would get the heck out of Dodge myself.

This is a reality check, terrified, possibly killed 2 creatures, I'd fear being attacked and adios myself far far away and keep going until I ran out of gas.

Only then would I have my nervous breakdown.

Editing to add that my personality and training has me reacting appropriately in an emergency. Truly, I would handle myself and leave the area,(however, I would have never shot those animals,) I would have broken the sound barrier leaving, but I'd only kill in self defense, or to protect a family member or a companion.

If I had to kill something for dinner, we'd all be vegetarians. :(

Yep, That's why you record and keep the recording of the conversation for a few years.

Yes it is.

Derekfoot has spoken of the shooter as "the bear hunter" a few times, while you called KW "bear hunter" in your interview for the sake of anonymity. If you read back through the thread you'll see that some people are getting them confused and getting the impression that KW was the shooter.

Yeah I screwed up. Of course. Big deal. I don't get paid to write this stuff. I'm not writing for publication or money here, so so what?

He got a copy after the story went to press. He got a copy right away, but delayed a day or 2 getting back to me.

Maybe he said:

I've hugged 1000 bears.

I've sexed 1000 bears.

I've loved 1000 bears.

I've kissed 1000 bears.

I've wrestled 1000 bears.

I've cooked 1000 bears.

Ok?

I still swear he shot "shot" but he says otherwise.

Silver, My friend, It does not matter. I believe you and respect you and your journalistic abilities.

I think recording everything and keeping all recordings until death do you part...will solve this problem.

Oh, my. I do truly hope that they can karyotype the samples, because that will give a for certain diagnosis that sasquatches are human! Chimps have 48 chromosomes, while humans have 46. We do not know what karyotype extinct species of humans had because karyotyping requires a fresh tissue sample with intact chromosomes from dividing cells, preferably thin skin cells like inner cheek lining epithelial cells. Certainly you would know male from female and a whole lot more based on the appearance of chromosome stripes compared to modern humans.

But ultimately what we want to look at is nuclear DNA. Mitochondrial DNA is also interesting but if we are talking about a hybrid population it might not be as revealing as we like.

Is it just coincidence that the sample was taken from "Frenchman Lake" and the haplotype is of a group of ancient humans in the area of France and Spain? What are the chances that there were hybrids from a French human population in this area of California incorporated into this sasquatch population?

Well, of course, I am just hopefully speculating. I have to admit that after the last few times of being hoaxed I am not too hopeful that anything at all will come of all this. My fond wish is that it all comes true. :)

I agree with this post. Silver Fox reported a story that he was told, verbally. He made that very clear in his post. It's to be expected that he would make some mistakes in transcribing and relating a telephone conversation.

The fact is that he reported it to us and, as a result, we have been given some highly interesting and revealing information about this ongoing DNA investigation.

Quite frankly, if it were not for Silver Fox's posts, we would still be speculating on when and if this paper will ever be released. I would rather have some information, even if there are errors, rather than NO information at all.

Furthermore, neither Ketchum, Erickson or anybody else involved with this project has room to complain if the info is incorrect. After all, they have released just enough information to get us excited and then have clammed up. They don't even bother to give periodic updates on their respective website. How hard would it be to add an update tab and once a week let us know where they are in the process?

The troops are getting restless and, as a result, we're all starting to dig around because there has been NOTHING coming from any of the camps! This is what happens when you peak interest and then shut down the flow of information.

If you're the kind of person that only wants 100% of the facts and no fluff; then don't read these posts. You can wait patiently for the report and video. In the mean time, the leaks will continue, as well as all sorts of rumors and speculation. This is a Bigfoot forum and that's what we all do. We research, speculate, share ideas, opinions and information with each other. If being right is a prerequisite for posting, then this forum might as well shut down.

Just my opinion...

Yeah actually I have to agree. Taking a step back and looking at it through this lens, I actually feel as though I should thank Silver Fox instead of helping to pile-on. My apologies!

Truth be told, I am wildly excited by all of this, and even if the original report wasn't completely accurate, the end result is still fairly profound. Absolutely can't wait to see the footage!

IMO it's not so much what Silverfox reports. It's like many others styles of writing here it comes off as condescending, arrogant, and very much as everything that he writes is a fact! He has no problem reminding us that he's a journalist as if that's some sort of cloak of credibility, then when challenged repeatedly says well I just read it on the web, or that's what someone said to me or some other lame answer ect ect. Its a public fourm if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen and if you sling enough BS long enough it will come back to hit you in the face IMO!
