Its a good off road rig, i'd be much more likely to get that than any of the newer jeeps.

That's the truth.

Buddy of mine bought his wife a brand new Jeep last year.  Nothing but problems and completely unreliable.  They traded it in after less than a year.

Every time he complains about it in public, he has people chime in to share their horror stories with Jeep.

I had a new wrangler as a rental car in Albuquerque this year. I experienced the Jeep death wobble at 70mph on the interstate. I can't believe they have not fixed that by now. I'll stick with my ugly Suburban.

The ZR2 has front and rear locking diffs. Off road suspension. Plus you can get it with the baby duramax!

Im not saying the Chevy Colorado is perfect. It is a modern vehicle after all.

the 4 door Wranglers and the New Gladiators are wannabe hummers

I have an 06 TJ with the inline 6 4.0

its great Jeep but these newer ones with the 3,6 v6... meh

Old vehicles do become money pits tho

My old 1986 Ranger was neglected by the previous owners

I'm actually entertaining getting a 2020 Super duty with the new 2 valve push rod  7.3 Gas

Dunno about the new gas pot but their diesels are junk.

And I was born with a blue oval stamped on my butt.

I currently have a Dodge Cummins and a Chev Duramax. The Cummins has more power but everything else is junk. Ive had zero issues with the Chev at 85k

And it rides like a caddie...

Inline 4.0 = 190 HP   -  235 ft/lbs

3.6 V6      = 285 HP   -  260 ft/lbs

the inline 6 cylinder 4.0 is a tractor engine

it’ll last longer than the 3.6

do a SWOT analysis on Ford and CHeVY and you’ll see they both have had QC issues

im glad you like your two diesels

i agree that the power strokes are sketchy, which is why I like this 7.3 Gas Ford is coming out for the MY 2020

honestly newer diesels are expensive to maintain these days with the DPF, DeF, regen etc.

unless your towing 10 tons a lot of the time the diesels are hardly worth it.

The 7.3 Gas has a nice flat torque curve

paired with the 4.30 gears it’ll pull like a power stroke from the late 90’s

I like big gas pots.... but my wallet does not.

The raptor 6.2 L got like 14 hwy and 10 city.

My Duramax averaged 20 mpg on the Colorado trip with the best of 28 mpg. I bet the baby Duramax does way better.

So I understand the not needing a diesel for towing but I still like MPG better. But Im a trucker so I like diesels better anyhow.

  • 2 weeks later...

These little trucks like the Colorado/Ranger/Tacoma are great off road vehicles and grocery getters, but simply can't throw down like the 3/4 and 1 ton pick ups.  They just can't.

I had a relative who recently recently tried to haul a car frame (I assume on an equipment trailer) across Kansas in his Colorado with the 3.6 V6, which is a mini van engine

hes worried he ruined his transmission, and the engine was screaming the whole time under load.

I would not buy a Colorado for any towing duties. Or any other mid sized for that matter.

In the woods they are great. Houndsmen love Toyota pickups.
