Popular Post Madison5716
Not as spiffy as NorthWind's fancy new truck, but I've got new wheels (again lol). I'm the happy owner of a new-to-me Ford Escape. Looking forward to fixing her up a bit. We took her on our adventuring yesterday and she did well. She's big enough to camp in, just in time for our upcoming night squatching adventure in 2 weeks (stay tuned!). Welcome "Indigo", or "Indy-go!" BC witness
Excellent! I hope it serves you well. It should do fine on regular logging roads, just be careful about ground clearance on rougher trails. If it's an automatic, consider adding an external cooler to keep the tranny happy on slow, steep climbs.
Catmandoo
Tranny and engine. Creeping uphill in low gear does not move much air through the radiators / coolers. I have a manual 5 speed 4WD. In 4WD low, I like to keep the engine at about 2K if I can to provide good oil pressure while going uphill. I added a bypass switch so I can manually turn on the cooling fan ( yes, electric fan ) in hot conditions. I have found that the thermostat- fan controls are junk this days. Skid plates are nice so you can verify your ground clearance.
